Another Craig disciple blind to his own hypocricy, failure to defend their own burden of proof, instead presenting a wall of quote-mined appeals to authority and counterfactual assertions.
I can assure you astronomers do not believe that the universe came about by natural means.

Was the universe created naturally or supernaturally.?

Agnostic Robert Jastrow leader of the Hubble telescope
“For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mounts of ignorance, he’s about to conquer the highest peak. As he pulls himself over the final rock, he’s greeted by a band of theologians who’ve been sitting there for centuries.”

Arthur Eddington, the contemporary of Einstein who was an expert in general relativity, said, “The beginning seems to present insuperable difficulties unless we agree to look on it as frankly supernatural.

Are arguments for the beginning of life that are naturalistic?. Not according to the people who are studying the matter. How about :

Francis Crick said, “Every time I write a paper on the origin of life, I swear I will never write another one because there’s too much speculation running after too few facts.

Marc Kirschner of Harvard and John C Gerhart of Berkeley said, “Everything about evolution before the bacteria-like life forms is sheer conjecture.”

Biochemist Klaus Dose admits that after almost 30 years of research into the origin of life has led to “a better perception of immensity of the problem of the origin of life on earth rather than its solution. At present, all the discussions on the principal theories and experiments in the field either end in stalemate or in a confession of ignorance.”

Stephen Hawking concluded, “It would be very difficult to explain why the universe should have begun in just this way except as an act of God who intended to create beings like us. Not only is it designed in terms of its expansion but the gravitational force is so precise if you change the gravitational force by one part in ten to the forty, nothing exists.
The gravitational force is so precise if you change the gravitational force by one part in ten to the forty, nothing would exist. Stretch a tape measure across the entire known universe. Set gravity at one inch anywhere on that tape measure. If you move gravity—the force of gravity one inch in either direction, we don’t exist.

Arno Penzias, the man who codiscovered the radiation afterglow said this: “Astronomy leads us to a unique event: a universe which was created out of nothing one with the very delicate balance needed to provide exactly the right conditions required to permit life and one which has an underlying, one might say, supernatural plan.”

Antony Flew, who was a atheist
“It is impossible for evolution to account for the fact that one single cell can carry more data than all the volumes of the Encyclopedia Brittanica put together. It now seems to me that the findings of more than 50 years of DNA research have provided materials for a new and enormously powerful argument from design."

Atheists has to explain these eight truths about the universe from an atheistic perspective. He must explain :
how the universe arose from nothing,
how extreme fine-tuning and design arose from chaos,
how life arose from non-life,
how morality arose from materials, how reason and the laws of logic arose from matter,
how mind arose from mud,
how mathematics arose from molecules,
how human freedom arose from blind repetitive forces
how consciousness arose from chemicals.
If he can’t give evidence to explain these truths about reality from an atheistic perspective, if he’s just going to state unsupported speculative possibilities that rely on faith, then I think theism is a more reasonable world view.

Now the claim is that the God of the Bible made and created everything and he also said that he would become the Messiah. The God made man or what is called the Christ or the Messiah. Clearly Jesus is the Messiah and there’s none else.

See the debate with Dr. Turek and Christopher Hitchens on YouTube.

I responded with a point by point refutation of his nonsense. But won't hold out hope that he'll adress it with an honest and rational mindset.

Same person, after I pointed out the bible says life came before light/the sun:
Nothing is impossible for God. Did you just hear yourself? And that source of energy is the glory of God. The same source of energy that Moses song. The bright shining light put the apostle Paul on his back on his way to kill Christians

This nonsense:
The Apostle Paul walked with Jesus Himself.

The first-century Roman Tacitus, who is considered one of the more accurate historians of the ancient world, mentioned superstitious “Christians” (from Christus, which is Latin for Christ), who suffered under Pontius Pilate during the reign of Tiberius. Suetonius, chief secretary to Emperor Hadrian, wrote that there was a man named Chrestus (or Christ) who lived during the first century (Annals 15.44).

Flavius Josephus is the most famous Jewish historian. In his Antiquities he refers to James, “the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ.” There is a controversial verse (18:3) that says, “Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man. For he was one who wrought surprising feats....He was [the] Christ...he appeared to them alive again the third day, as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him.” One version reads, “At this time there was a wise man named Jesus. His conduct was good and [he] was known to be virtuous. And many people from among the Jews and the other nations became his disciples. Pilate condemned him to be crucified and to die. But those who became his disciples did not abandon his discipleship. They reported that he had appeared to them three days after his crucifixion, and that he was alive; accordingly he was perhaps the Messiah, concerning whom the prophets have recounted wonders.”

Julius Africanus quotes the historian Thallus in a discussion of the darkness which followed the crucifixion of Christ (Extant Writings, 18).

Pliny the Younger, in Letters 10:96, recorded early Christian worship practices including the fact that Christians worshiped Jesus as God and were very ethical, and he includes a reference to the love feast and Lord’s Supper.

The Babylonian Talmud (Sanhedrin 43a) confirms Jesus' crucifixion on the eve of Passover and the accusations against Christ of practicing sorcery and encouraging Jewish apostasy.

Lucian of Samosata was a second-century Greek writer who admits that Jesus was worshiped by Christians, introduced new teachings, and was crucified for them. He said that Jesus' teachings included the brotherhood of believers, the importance of conversion, and the importance of denying other gods. Christians lived according to Jesus’ laws, believed themselves to be immortal, and were characterized by contempt for death, voluntary self-devotion, and renunciation of material goods.

Mara Bar-Serapion confirms that Jesus was thought to be a wise and virtuous man, was considered by many to be the king of Israel, was put to death by the Jews, and lived on in the teachings of His followers.

Then we have all the Gnostic writings (The Gospel of Truth, The Apocryphon of John, The Gospel of Thomas, The Treatise on Resurrection, etc.) that all mention Jesus.

In fact, we can almost reconstruct the gospel just from early non-Christian sources: Jesus was called the Christ (Josephus), did “magic,” led Israel into new teachings, and was hanged on Passover for them (Babylonian Talmud) in Judea (Tacitus), but claimed to be God and would return (Eliezar), which his followers believed, worshipping Him as God (Pliny the Younger).

But that would require actually observing the universe as it is, rather than just demanding that the universe do as its told and conform to one's view of how it should be.

I wrote a long reply and it was erased.
There is a god , and has been from the beginning. He loves you and wants you to love him back. He sent his only begotten son to die on a cross so you and I could have eternal life after we die.
We will all die and meet him some day. We don’t know the day or hour.

I pray you will talk to a godly pastor and he can tell you face to face about our lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Please don’t live your life your life in sin.
Get you a bible and read the Chapter Of John. I will be praying for you. You have two choices on this earth. Please make God your choice. You don’t want to live for Satan. He is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.

Note the ingenuous special pleading of godly pastor.

Today I actually left the doggy park rather than get into a fight by saying "what a load of bullshit. Where were the witnesses? Did they take pictures? Were they able to verify it with a disinterested person observing the phenomenon? If no, then it didn't happen."

The story is that a charity called "The Little Eden Society" which has been taking care of children in need since 1967 - yes I googled it because it was a charity near where my kids grew up, was started when an Italian brought "the love of his life" to South Africa. On arriving at his house, she saw a vision of "the virgin" standing with children. She thought she was being told to start a charity for kids, which she did with a R10 donation from her husband - and oh yes, the husband saw the vision too. The funny thing is the charity isn't a catholic one, they worked out of the Methodist Church hall and it's affiliated with the Methodists, not kiddy-diddling priests.

A woman who goes to mass every Sunday before bringing her dog to the park told this story which she heard from her priest this morning. Jesus how stupid are these people? Don't they know that google doesn't know the story. And apparently the RCC is going to suggest that these people become saints. Oh my god! It took all my self-control to put the leash on my dog and go home instead of getting into a huge fight with this moronic woman, and then be banned from the park forever. The things we do for love!

Roughly half of the scientists in one survey expressed a belief in God or a higher power. Here are a couple and there are others. Do some reading. I am not a scientist and can only rely on those who are to state why they are believers.

Francis S. Collins, director of the Human Genome Project, the world’s largest collaborative biological project, is a scientist and believer and finds no conflict between those worlds. However, the former atheist didn’t always embrace these perspectives. It wasn’t until he went to medical school and encountered life and death issues at the bedside of his patients where he was constantly challenged with the question “what do you believe, doctor?” that he began searching for those answers. Through that journey, he found Jesus Christ. Collins has led a consortium of scientists to read out the 3.1 billion letters of the human genome, our own DNA instruction book. As a believer, Collins said he sees DNA as “the information of all living things, as God’s language, and the elegance and complexity of our own bodies and the rest of nature as a reflection of God’s plan.

Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

Albert Einstein, one of the most highly recognized and revered scientists of the twentieth century believed in religion. The founder of modern physics and Nobel laureate recognized the impossibility of a non-created university, quoted saying “Everyone who is seriously committed to the cultivation of science becomes convinced that in all the laws of the universe is manifest a spirit vastly superior to man, and to which we with our powers must feel humble.” Another famous quote of his was “Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.”

I will not continue to post any more messages. I will ask you to read the 1Chapter of Romans starting at Chapter 16. All the way through. I will quote 18 thru 24 to you But God shows his anger from heaven against All sinful, evil men who push away the truth from them. For the truth about god is know to them instinctively,God has this knowledge in their heart s. Since earliest times men have seen the earth and sky and all God made, and have known of his existence and great eternal power. So they have No excuse [when they stand before God at Judgment Day]

The best answer to this would probably be an equivalent statement from another religion about a different god. I am not aware of one though, anyone?

Well, in "earliest times", people didn't believe in the Christian God, but in hundreds of them. Just pick one.

Good point, I suppose every god ever invented is a result of this same sort of thinking, so if it is valid thinking, why are there conflicting gods? The most obvious and most difficult to wave away conflict would be the one god/many gods religions. They can't both be right, and can't both be just different expressions of the same feeling if it is a meaningful feeling. It shows that even if we have an instinct towards a god belief, it tells us nothing about the nature of any god or gods, since it has led to every god belief there has ever been.

If you look at all the other wacky beliefs out there, what shows is that many share a belief in the supernatural, but there is no evidence that such a tendency leads towards truth, it seems to lead in random directions, and those who follow their instincts in this regard seem to be only presenting a false façade of knowledge or wisdom.

Also, some believers will try to argue that "old" gods are just misunderstanding of the Christian God. They'll try to attach their own belief to previous ones. But this has to be debunked too. The description of God is pretty precise in the Bible, and it's very clear that previous mythologies (greek, roman, norse, indian...) can't be conflated with this one. Cosmogonies are very different, for example.

And if the Jews had it right, as Christians believe, then why aren't they all Christians now? How do you start out on the right divinely guided path, yet manage to miss the single biggest most blatant signpost with neon lights and bells and whistles on that path?

The OT is filled with examples of Jews getting everything wrong. In fact, from the moment God decides they're the "chosen" people, everything they could do wrong, they did. During the time in the desert, and even after, God has to punish them, mostly for doubting him, at least a dozen times. Remember that out of the 10 commandments, 4 of them explain how to worship him. So, for his chosen people to even doubt his existence is a big mistake.
Makes you wonder how the all-knowing, all-powerful God chooses his people.
