Yeah. Then Napoleon came along and sorted them out: 'Hmmm. This religion thing is useful for controlling the masses...'
Or something similar.

Even before Napoleon came up and restored catholicism as the state religion through the concordate with the pope, Robespierre had tried to dominate the masses through a revolutionary religion with his cult of the Supreme being and whatnot.

Didn't know that. So much for 'atheists' running the show.

Don't know if the Supreme Being really caught on, but I guess many people gave lip service because at that time, an accusation of unrevolutionary tendencies was a short way from an end under the National Razor.

I can't tell you how very, very French this seems to me. Didn't the revolutionaries rename the calendar, too? There! That should revolutionize things. What was that one month? Humidor? Fast forward, 250 years, the snowflakes are melting. Maybe homeopathy can help.

There's a midwife here talking to the ladies and saying, "inchallah", like it's going out of fashion. It is driving me nuts. Yesterday she wheeled a bed off the ward to the delivery suite at speed saying to the woman, "use your hijab sister, get some control". For pity's sakes, the expectant mother may have had other concerns than a male doctor lusting over her hair whilst her legs were thrown wide open.

Point her in the direction of Queen Rania of Jordan's website about the Hijab. She'll probably think it's blasphemous.

"Academic claims on Kuwaiti television that gay men have an 'anal worm that feeds on semen"

"A video released by MEMRI, a US-based news outlet covering stories from the Middle East, claims that she said:

As well as the fourth gender, which is butch lesbians.

This is all science, so there’s nothing to be ashamed of.

The sexual urge develops when a person is sexually attacked.

And afterwards it persists because there is an anal worm that feeds on semen. It feeds on sperm.

So, what I did was to produce suppositories, which are to be used by certain people at a certain time.

It cures those urges by exterminating the worm that feeds on the sperm."

A Christian apologist in response to me pointing out their argument is a circular reasoning fallacy:
In apologetics it is known as a virtuous circular argument.

I haven't managed to find that notion in any reliable philosophical source.
So far, I've only encountered it in the form of a virtuous cycle, as opposed to a vicious cycle.

In counter-apologetics it's known as ad hoc bullshit.

I recently came across a claim that implies that one piece of evidence that the Muslims are evil and don't want piece in the middle East, is that they refuse to call Jerusalem "Yerushalalim, which is the Jewish name". This was of course a claim made by some weirdo end-times Christian, who probably is less knowledgeable about the plethora of names used for that city in Judaism, and how almost all the names used by Muslims are closer to those Jewish names than the English pronunciation of "Jerusalem" is to the Hebrew pronunciation of יְרוּשָׁלַיִם

Why would they say 'yeroushalayim" when they can call it 'al Quds", the Holy City?

Maybe because it isn't The holy city, or is certainly no longer. Read up on Qiblah for more information, but in a nutshell - it used to be Jerusalem when Mo tried to absorb the Jews, but they didn't want to play ball and he cried and ran off to play with other people's children.

It's hard to say what is just in this case, but GailQ needs, at the very least, to have a remedial stay in an education camp, otherwise known as High School.

So often it seems like presups have their own language/dictionary:
Thanks for dropping by, Jason. I’d like to address your core argument and I think it’s this: “I dont really care for what one can assert, I care about what one can demonstrate.” If I may rephrase it, you want demonstrable proof, not assertions.

The presuppositional proof, if you can see it, is without God you can’t prove anything. He alone lays the foundation for all rational thought, morality, purpose, and destiny in the universe. But let’s just stay with rationality. The very fact that you are looking for proof, indicates that you’re interested in truth. I hope that’s a fair assumption.

But why? Why would you be concerned about truth? It makes no sense if you’re just cosmic happenstance floating around on a dying planet in the accidental universe. So you can enjoy your spin and eventual death and nothingness? What good is truth to grown-up pond scum?

The very fact that you’re aiming for some truth and reasonableness to the universe is proof you believe in transcendent order. And transcendent order doesn’t happen with materialistic naturalism — it cannot account for that order. Only the God of Scripture can account for such high ideals as we find in the pursuit of truth.

https://cyprus-mail.com/2019/07/26/bish ... -anal-sex/

"The problem, as the bishop sees it, doesn’t seem to be the anal sex itself, but the pregnant woman’s enjoyment of it. As the Mail explained his logic, the gay transmission

occurs when the couple has sex while the woman is pregnant, and the sex is “unnatural,” as he characterised anal sex.

The bishop said that when the woman enjoys anal sex, “a desire is created, which is then transmitted to the unborn child.”
