I'm going on holiday to France Monday week, and I need to be able to explain, when we eat out, very clearly, that I cannot tolerate or digest any milk products whatsoever. All that my pathetic and very ancient schoolgirl French can come up with is 'Pas du lait', and 'Pas du fromage'.
Can anyone help? I would love to be able to say 'I am allergic to dairy products. They make me ill. Please make sure that whatever you serve me does not contain any dairy'.

Je suis allergique aux produits laitiers. Ils me font mal. S'il vous plaît assurez-vous que ce que vous me servir ne contiennent pas de produits laitiers.

No doubt some native speaker will be along shortly to tear into my offering and provide a version which does not translate as 'milk me, I have the bad.'

Something like this? "Je suis allergique aux produits laitiers. Merci de faire très attention et ne me servir rien qui contienne des produits laitiers (lait, yaourt, fromage, beurre, etc.)."
I've added a checklist of dairy products in the brackets, it might be useful. You can simply print this on a card and keep it in your purse. I've seen this done before, very practical. Have a good trip!

Bitte schön! Schoolgirl French is much better than no French, and it makes an enormous difference in France if you say at least "bonjour", "merci" and "s'il vous plaît" in French.
