Interesting. Maybe i could apply this substance to the missuses inner thighs, they reach temperatures of minus 7000 degrees, the frost bite on my hips and shoulders, could be a thing of the past! :ask:

I wonder if that could be used in housing insulation?

Nice! I've seen people protect their houses from wildfires by spraying them with a hydrophilic polymer that's in diapers, but I doubt that one would want to eat it. This fella's crazy - in a good way.

I could use some insulation like that. I would like to know its shelf life though.

Well, if it's anything like Twinkies, then the half life is quite good.

I don't think Twinkies are biodegradable though...

We already talked about this stuff, I think.

This was my take on it the first time:

The_Metatron wrote:The first torch looked like an acetylene cutting torch. 3500 degrees C. The second torch was MAPP gas, which burns at just under 3000 degrees C.

That demonstration didn't impress me that much. You could do the same thing with a handful of ice cream. He made a slurry with water. As long as water remains in the slurry, all the slurry has to do is not conduct heat to the guy's skin. As long as water remains in it, the slurry won't get any hotter than the boiling point of water, roughly.

Exactly what I was thinking, metatron. The stuff is wett, what happens when it's dry (as in, when it's in the state it's going to be when in use)?
Also, I call bull on the radiation story. That's pretty obvious nonsense

on the 7000 degrees bit. I assumed (with him sounding American an all) that he was talking Fahrenheit, and 3500°C = 6332°F. and wiki has this "combustion of acetylene with oxygen produces a flame of over 3600 K (3300 °C, 6000 °F)"

as for the demonstration. yeah, the water would act as a buffer, but surely there is also a risk of super hot steam from it, and the water would store the heat after the torch was removed

but as usual these are "dramatic" tests, rather than true facts and figures to compare.

Not incredibly impressive. You can do the same trick with boric acid infused cellulose. Also just because he eats it doesn't make it not toxic. You can eat a fair amount of boric acid before it kills you.

The way he talks makes me very suspicious. You don't hear any actual numbers being given out regarding its thermal properties. It just doesn't sound quite right to me.

If the bullshit factor in this demonstration is high then I must confess that I've been swayed by ignorance.
Since I'm not familiar with this stuff in the slightest I was just surprised to what my eyes and ears seemed to witness.

And in such case I feel I must apologize for the slightly *cough* hyperbolic dramatic undertone I've added with the OP :awe:

The thing tosee would be what this stuff does dry. I think these guys are counting on similar reactions, maybe from people with more money than sense.

Heres the guy once again. He spouts a lot of information which isn't true. The body recognizes benzene as a sugar? Pretty sure that's not correct.
