Well, I decided to get back into F@H, as I used to a couple years back but due to some computer issues had stopped. Figure I'll contribute to the team as well, maybe get one of those neat stat sigs. Considering I'm running a quad-core, and my computer is on pretty much nonstop anyway, it shouldn't take long for me to show up on the stats page, LOL.

Well, my rank has gone up 20 in a week so I guess everything is ticking over OK.

Sure looks like it, the client you installed is the tried and true old clunker that should just tick away analysing protein changes in (my guess) Alzheimers (now I used to know how to spell that, I think I did). All good stuff, give them one for the gipper. I prefer to think that I am doing one for Terry Prachett mind you..

Two weeks now so I think I have found my level now - happily ticking-over in the lower orders.

Wow, looks like the output on the team has dropped off by quite a bit recently, too bad. Either way a good effort considering the non-tech focus of the group.

Our 24hr average is still excellent and we are still climbing the tables.. Ha my netbook is screaming away at 330ppd, my internet connection still not up to running my gpu/smp folding machine though.. Looks like my days as a power folder are over for the foreseeable future.

Well been a short absence, I have been learning how to be a "super folder". Actually learning some linux, getting deeper into server usage for folding. moving systems around and figuring what I am doing with these servers. as of now I will be running one i7 2600k system for you guys for a while yet then will upgrade to a 4p 24core box putting out ~200kppd here. I am also folding for
[H] team 33 as they worked with me and walked me through the server systems to fold on. who knows in the future.
hope i am still welcome. i7 switched back to 182116

Of course you are still welcome, I think I said right back in the early days that although this is a team thread ,all folders welcome.
I understand that the level of technical assistance you require is better supported by a tech team.
All contributions are welcome here, big or small and you have contributed the 2nd highest score for the team.. so that has been big.
You don't need to fold for us to discuss folding here and I for one would like to hear about your new systems and newly gained knowledge... Just no recruiting for those H's  They have plenty of members already.

I for two would be interested to hear about the system modifications and implementations wiki62 has been delving into.

I am actually thinking about upgrading my HTPC this year and was thinking about putting in a quad (hex?) for folding, since the computer is almost always on. Would love to hear if anyone had ideas about which processors would do better for folding. I imagine an Intel Hyperthreaded quad would do better than an AMD at the same clock speed.

This would be in addition to my current work computer that has a dual core running 24/7. Also, can some one direct me on how to add the tags with folding stats?

Yes the HT quad Intel is generally faster for folding than even the AMD hex, but both would be excellent and price and other needs should make your decision, but really any 4+ core fast one will be fast for folding.

Thanks for the info - I thinking the quad would be the way to go, the price point on them isn't too bad as long as I can scavange some parts from the old system.

My completed work unit won't send to the work server completed 14 March. Can't find mention of it on the forum (Project: 6881, Run 114, Clone 9, Gen 370). Is this a local issue with my machine? :dunno:
