So, after having spent half my holiday reading on the RD forum tragedy (thanks kiore, wouldn't have known what else to do ), I have decided to come over after all... (yes, I'm a bit slow...)

When do I change the folding number? Can I do this now, or do I have to wait until the current unit is finished?

You can change your number at anytime as the number isn't recorded until the unit completed and sent.
Do it now  if you like.
Great to see you here.

While planning my watercooling for my i7920, checked out some temps from different aircoolers, my current twin fan Noctua was supposed to be 20C cooler than it is... Pulled it off and redid the thermal paste.. and voila 20C cooler.. So now will wind up the overclock even more. With these new SMP2s there is a bonus for fast return which makes a significant difference. Will try for 3.8GHz tonight and see how it goes.
Still tweaking up my production. 8-)

Let the brainstorming of names begin!

Rational Humanism
Free Rationalists
Badass Atheists

Yeah...I'm not so good at thinking up names.

Freethought Fora?

Perhaps we could get TAF, AFA, JREF, Secular Cafe, Atheist Nexus, Reason Project etc signed up?

Kiore, any secrets to getting SMP2 going?

This is a fantastic idea. From what I know there are already teams for JREF, RDF, and 'the Godless Ones', however if we could get agreements with the various other atheist, skepticism, freethought sites we could create a team of potentially hundreds of people. One grand unified humanist team that could vault to the very top of Folding@Home.

MOS, what setup do you have for your smp2? If you want to use the vm download the latest 1.1 linuxfah version, it won't work with your old version as it doesn't include the updated 6.29 core..
http://www.evga.com/FORUMS/tm.aspx?m=4464
When you have done the sign in config stuff, and get to the start up bit where you used to write (or try to write), ./fah6 -bigadvanced -smp 8, write instead: ./fah6 -advmethods -smp 8 NB you can do -smp 7,6,5,4,3 or 2 on the A3 core, but only 7 or 8 on the bigadvanced.
Then just hit enter, it will either draw a A3 or maybe an old A1 unit, the A3 units are small 470point etc, the A1's are 1730 or 1920 points. You only get bonuses on the A3 versions.
If you were trying to use notfreds it won't work as hasn't been updated.
Otherwise you must do the old Winsmp set up and add the update, hoping all the A1s will be finished soon and a new setup will be introduced. It is so complicated as it needs to be able to do the old and the new SMP projects, when all the A1s are finished there will be no need to use the mpich and so the setup should be much easier.

A unified team that is too big would give problems for a team thread, but yes to an invitation to those who have no team. As for names I have been thinking of this and haven't had any brainwaves yet.
Think a serious name rather than a joke one (eg godlessones ). But am amused by ideas like Herdofcats FAHatheists (faithyists) etc etc.

Hey I started folding on one of them, it is retired now and only does light work..
How are you running it? Increase, Nfold? Mine always used to get a bit warm unless I lifted of the desk surface.
Welcome.

Welcome.

I dunno. I just downloaded it, put in the ID info, and let it run. I didn't realise it was possible to tweak the settings.

I've also since downloaded the app to my desktop PC. That one has considerably more grunt than the iBook.

The old iBook is pretty marginal for folding now, I used Increase to monitor and run the v5 client on mine, note it only runs the old v5 client. I was a little mystified that you seemed to have completed a windows cpu workunits a project 4600 series.
So you have a another system too  Good stuff.

ASH:
Atheists, Skeptics, & Humanists

SASH:
Society of Atheists Skeptics & Humanists

FLASH:
Folding League of Atheists, Skeptics, & Humanists

ASHES:
Atheists, Skeptics, & Humanists for Excellence in Science

FLASHES:
Folding League of Atheists, Skeptics, & Humanists for Excellence in Science

FLASHERS:
Folding League of Atheists, Skeptics, & Humanists for Excellence in Reason and Science
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Considering that the cut off point for the RDF signature is here (X), it seems that ASH would work while allowing our team a full view in the signatures:

Richard Dawkins Foundation for (R) [The R is partially cut in the normal sigs]
Atheists, Skeptics, & Humanists

I kinda like using acronyms because it serves as good shorthand, and people are much more likely to follow something simple. For instance we could use something like:

Team ASH
ASH Folding

In fact our sigs could be Atheists, Skeptics, & Humanists with the full title on EOC etc. as:
Atheists, Skeptics, & Humanists - ASH Folding

Testing name change.

*Seems the team info is now down in EOC, going to see how long it takes to reboot with a new name. Again, this is only a test*

Edit: Addition

Okay, I just realized I misspelt my user name on my second machine, so both Will.Young and Wiil.Young are listed as ASH members with completed work

Does anyone know how to correct the user name of an already completed and submitted WU?

In Terminal (Mac OS X) I changed ~/Library/InCrease/unit1 (Wiil.Young, 182116, 1) to ~/Library/InCrease/unit1 (Will.Young, 182116, 1). This is the only WU this machine has completed so I am hoping that the correct user name will update.

Changing the team and member in Increase alone only applies new units. I changed the member name via Terminal, which, from what Increase's Preference Menu seemed to suggest, would change the member name of existing units. Whether that includes finished work, I guess I'll have to wait and see if it updates.

If not, on our stats pages, Wiil.Young will be a constant reminder to my piss-poor typing skills. :nono:

I think you might be stuck with that. I just checked, and saw at least one obvious case of a wrong name in the old RDF team.

The only options in the admin panel are to change the team name, logo, and site link, so there is nothing that can be done on this end.

Once the EOC user info gets working and we finalize what name we want, we should start making overtures to every atheist, freethought, humanist, skepticism, and science forum on the net. Its going to take us a bit of effort, but we will make it to the front page.

Some teams that could serve as targets:
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Humanists, Atheists, and Freethinkers, Rank 587, 12k/Day, 7 Million Total

Nerds for Jesus, Rank 215, 25k/Day, 28 Million Total

The Godless Ones, Rank 176, 54k/Day, 36 Million Total

Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science, Rank 134, 327k/Day, 53 Million Total

Free Republic Folders, Rank 76, 114k/day, 126 Million Total

That's what I suspected. No problem, the team gets the work credit regardless. It was more of a curiosity on my part than anything else... I look at Mac OS X Terminal as sort of a philosopher's stone

Right. I suspect that once a unit is complete it's a done deal.
