Initially not that impressed by the new name, but looking at the folding help forum where I currently have it as a sig, think it's not too bad after all. Very direct and unambiguous..

A few issues with my 'farm' today have lost the monitor on my Phenom 940 rig, it was old and a bit dodgy for a while.. Guess I'll get another one tomorrow.. Had a powercut for 6 hours so won't be a big day for me, used to opportunity to raise the overclock on my i7920 to 3.9 GHz, think that might end up being a little too warm, but working fine so far, ended up getting another old A1 smp unit which only uses 4 cores so not able to check tonight. When I'm sure it's stable will switch back to the bigadvanced units instead of regular smp units. The bigadvanced still don't like powercuts or shutdowns of any kind so I may just have to stay on A3 SMP2s in the longterm, or at least until our new building guy gets quicker at turning the backup generator on, today he must have been asleep as my UPS ran out of juice.
Team is looking good for our first million in the next few days, not a bad start for a new team.

The name was just something neutral that I came up with, and it can be used as a placeholder. I have no intention of making a unilateral decision as the team is all of us. I mostly just wanted to test out the admin panel to see how long things took to change over. To my surprise everything changed over in a few hours. That being tested now, it will be no problem whatsoever to change things again. The whole massive list of names was just me acting OCD with acronyms (I was really bored).

I figure we can take a week, gather submissions for names, then make a poll and vote on the final disposition of the team.

It seems we have a little ways yet until our individual stats for the team start showing up. From the EOC site:

Q: Why isn't my team's stats listed?
A: I only process teams with a rank of 6,000 or better. When your team reaches that point they are automatically added.

Q: Why don't we have user (individual) stats?
A: Individual stats are added when the team rank reaches at least 800. It is possible for individuals to be added sooner if the team's rank is at least 1,200 AND their rank has gone up by at least 5 spots in the last 7 days. So the more active teams get their users' added sooner.

The team ranked at 1200 has about 3 million points total, while the 800 rank team is at 5 million.

A couple of weeks then till we hit 3 million we will be there soon enough..
I have my Phenom 940 system up and running now attached a new screen to discover everything switched off for 24hrs..
And my i7 system also offline today..
All back up and running now and hope to do a little catchup, a crappy couple of days for me at one point last night nothing bar my single core laptop was folding..
Overall though a very successful first week for the team

Is it reasonable that i made only 524 points and 5 WU in 2 days, with full 2 nights for it to run freely?

Depends on what you are running, guessing you are running a cpu/uniprocessor client, these are slow but reliable and don't get in the way.
High performance clients are more difficult but faster. What sort of system are you running? If a multicore cpu you can run multiple clients or a high performance multicore SMP.
Post: cpu model and speed eg AMD Phenom II 955 @ 3.2GHz, OS eg winXP64bit and RAM and we can advise.

Addit: OK just had a look at your stats, you seem to have a reasonably fast cpu running a uniprocessor client. If you are running a dual core laptop you could add another uniprocessor client, just go to the same download page and download the console client, not another systray otherwise the config is very complicated. If you have a desktop that is dual or quad you may want to try a high performance SMP client this is significantly more complicated. If a quad or triple you could also copy the console uniprocessor and put in different folders before launching.
eg when you unzip it, rename the folder you unzip it to C:/console3 the second one console 4 third console 5, when you launch and config each client chose advanced methods and call the 1st one machineID 3, 2nd machine ID 4 etc This will make sense when you see the config panel. Why you name it like that is ID 1 will be the systray you have already and ID 2 is the default number for gpu downloads.
If you have a compatible gpu, ask here for advice.

The reason that some folders are moving very fast is that they have high performance especially gpu clients running. Wiki62 and me have lots of them :smoke: All work is good work, I see you have been doing small 47 point units they are done quickly but are not very fast the 336 point one you did would have been much faster comparatively.

I have a lame Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00Ghz, 2GB of RAM, Win XP. I'll just stick with the uniprocessor client. But thanks anyway.

You know, that's way better than what I folded with. You can also download the console client for extra output.

As Imp says easy to double your output by added the console uniprocessor as well. Rig actually fast enough to do the SMPs, but 2 uniprocessors probably a better idea and shouldn't have a noticeable effect on whatever else you do on it.
I started my folding career on a single core 1.4 GHz laptop and currently also use a single core 1.7GHz which has knocked out 78 work units in about as many days.. all good science.

Bloody hell. I just checked the team stats. Kiore is single-handedly responsible for half a million.

Are you running a server farm?

Amazing. Great effort.

Each should contribute what they can.. note wiki62 not far behind me on production too, I got a full days headstart :smug: .
I have a gpu farm, currently running 9 cards with another one coming online today. I have 3 quad core systems that I have built running F@H, but I am crazy and this is my hobby. I am a bit limited in my current location and so this is a good hobby for being stuck at home. A successful team needs more than a couple of power folders as they go on leave, run out of money/time or have system crashes etc. In my opinion a broad base is essential and the power folders add some competitiveness to the team.
Hey I started off this time last year with a single core laptop doing 1 workunit a week..

Just added 3 clients - may as well have them doing something!

Is that on your i7? Did you add 3 consoles? Guessing you're still having problems running the linuxfah image in vm, can't see what it is that is going wrong there, but understand as I struggled for ages to get it to work.
If you wanted to try again I would go for the A3 config which is ./fah6 -advmethods -smp 8 rather than the bigadvanced as it is more stable and should do 11-12kppd on your system.
Still hopeful that a new winSMP setup with an installer will be available soon once all the A1s are finished.
A reminder to all that it is now recommended to use a passkey for all high performance clients and even for uniprocessors too.
Only PPC and PS3 are unable to use them. Unsure if this means that bonus for fast return will be extended to gpus and maybe even some of the uniprocessors units in the future, but wouldn't hurt to add them to all new setups and is easy to add them to current systray gpu's too.

Editing a Console Client:
For console clients to change team numbers or add passkeys you need to stop the client> go to shortcut and right click> go to properties> add the flag -configonly in target> restart client. You should now return to the original console box and can change add your details there.
Then go back to the shortcut and remove the -configonly flag and launch console again.

Get Passkeys from here:
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py

I don't guarantee that these will be useful, but from past experience when bonuses were introduced you were required to have one and have completed 10 appropriate workunits with an 80% success rate in order to qualify, keep your passkey safe and use only one. The only current advantage they have (except for bigadv and A3 smps) is that they prevent identity issues with folders with similar names.

What is the bonus points system?

First introduced for the A2 bigadvanced clients and then extended to SMP2 as well these pay a standard point payment for completion of a unit within the preferred deadline but add an extra points award for the sooner the unit is finished the amount increasing the faster the unit is completed.
Whether this system will be extended to other clients is not clear but it would seem likely that it will at least be extended to the remaining 'high performance client' the gpu client of which a new version is underway and perhaps even some of the uniprocessor projects as well.
To qualify you need to complete 80% of the units within the preferred deadline, this discourages people from pushing their systems past stable levels (resulting in high numbers of Early Unit Ends) or cherry picking (purposely crashing 'undesirable' workunits) and gives extra reward to those with stable fast systems.
Remember all those currently completing units within deadlines will still get points for them, and only very marginal systems take anywhere near that long.
