I was finally able to order a 3070 Founders Edition today. Will get it in my hands sometime in the next week or so. If I cared, I could probably scalp it for a good profit, no way.....

EDIT: I just realized I can sell my 2060 Super OC on Ebay and essentially fund the entire 3070 purchase.

That's incredible both to be able get a 3000 series card and to sell that 2000 series cards are still selling close what there when new.
Interested to see how the 3070 performs.

Just got it installed. Soooo much quieter than the MSA 2060 Super Ventus I used to have. The client is currently saying that I'll get 3.2 Mppd, but clearly YMMV.

Will vary between projects but seems like a very powerful card which should really rock especially the high atom count ones.

I was a bit concerned that some of my WUs were getting getting "lost" - to the point where I reinstalled Folding on my machine around lunchtime today. But looking at the most recent update from Extreme Overclocking Folding, it appears that they were just in limbo and are included in the most recent refresh.

Has been a while since I posted here, my daily output has dipped considerably as my RTX 2080ti which was always a dud finally blew a bearing. I stripped it down and cleaned it up in case it was dust buildup causing the increasingly loud rattle..but even clean as new heatsink plus new thermal paste and balanced fans could not prevail. Way too many hours spent disassembling and reassembling this card to no effect. For those of you who have considered but not actually stripped and rebuilt a modern video card.. don't do it. Card is now wrapped up pending RMA, just 80 days left on the warrantee should have RMAed it early on as a dud for heat but have tolerated this for way too long. Hopefully the replacement is not such a dud card.
I have been on waiting lists for 3000 series hybrid cards from EVGA since March but the chip shortage is real and not just generated by scalpers.

Took a week to get my RMA for the RTX 2080ti approved, am sending the faulty card back tomorrow so hopefully will have replacement up and working within a couple of weeks. This assuming they have an appropriate refurbished card available, it has always been fast and easy before but now with the chip shortage I wonder.

So my RTX 2080ti RMA replacement is on its way! In the meanwhile my old GTX1080ti hybrid also started overheating and suspect the liquid coolant not circulating well, perhaps the pump gone, I will pull it apart and see next weekend, I do have a spare hybrid heatsink and loop which may fit if necessary. Seems to be hardware dying time at present 2 of 3 video cards and my laptop in the past 3 weeks..

Well my RMA replacement RTX 2080ti is up and running and it seems the old one was always a dud as I believed, suddenly zoom more output lower temps should have RMAed it when it first arrived. Haven't found time to try a rebuild of my old GTX 1080ti hybrid, but suspect the liquid coolant pump has gone rather than a pressure issue.

Tried to minimally repair the GTX1080ti hybrid by all the listed tricks to clear an air lock in the liquid cooling loop but to no effect, the out tube from the pump 'thrums' like it trying to pump but no return liquid from the radiator. Temps go straight to 90C when 50C was hot when it working properly. I suspect pump damaged as well as a airlock and very hard to bleed these closed loops. As this an old card would normally give up on it and replace, but as the chip shortage continues and all available cards at real prices are bot-bought and resold at 2-3 times the correct price, I am going to try to mod it with a cheap sealed cpu loop cooler with a Kraken G12 mount to hold it in place https://nzxt.com/product/kraken-g12 .
This was a great folding card and will see if I can squeeze another year out of it.

So fitted the Kraken 12 bracket and an EVGA CPU AIO water-cooling loop to the GTX 1080ti. It is working well at present with temps maxing at 53C even with the single 120 radiator although the tubes are too short to reach the top of the case and so exhaust at the CPU level.
Really this was a cheapish resuscitation of a unusable GPU total cost under $70 and would have been cheaper if I could have got the spare AIO cooler I had to fit. The EVGA was not on the approved list for the Kraken but simple fix for this is to loosen the 4 small screws on the pump assembly, lock it in place and then tighten up again. This EVGA cooler was the cheapest one I could find and as the 'approved' list of cpu cooler that fit the Kraken is 4 years old most of the approved ones are no longer available. Really I would not use this kit for an upgrade to hybrid cooling on a card that is working fine, I am sure quite spectacular results could be had with a 240 radiator but it doesn't allow for fan headers on the GPU so controlling fan speeds is much more complex.

Repaired GTX 1080ti still working well and keeping cool so back up to 2/3 GPUs running, my GTX 1660ti is offline as I had to remove it to fit the 1080ti in the case and left it out in case I needed to play with the repaired card. Will have to do some cable tie magic to fit it back in as the tubes for the water loop are very stiff and short and are partially blocking the space where the 1660 sits. Ah well fun and games but happy to have my 2 best cards running again.

I have been refurbishing my folding rigs, but draining and refilling the waterloops was insufficient. New CPU/memory waterblocks have been required as they ware bunged up with detritus and after cleaning them up it left them leaky as corrosion had set in after the nickel plating had deteriorated. The GPU waterblock on my old GTX 970 still seems to be OK though. I have still not managed to source an RTX replacement for a reasonable price.
I should be back up and running normally this week.

On a positive note, after re-installing FAH on one of the rigs, when I could not get the config files sorted manually I had a look on the Folding Forum website and found this.
Guide for installing FAH v7.6.21 on Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS v2
Which includes a way of getting FAH Control working on newer Ubuntu installations which has not been working for ages. So I managed to get FAH Control to do the config changes. It also works on KUbunru 21.04 which I am currently on, I just hope that this works on KUbuntu 21.10 which will be available this month (I do like to keep up to date).

Understand the repair issues.
My run of bad luck accelerates: The GTX 1080ti that I fixed the water pump for has now blown something else after just 2 days..smell of burning and stop... Well it had served well all these years. To make matters perfect the RTX 2080ti that I RMAed and received a replacement for has now failed after only a few weeks, this still days within warranty so waiting on tech support to respond on this. Interestingly a new kind of BSOD observed on this when I tried a driver update to fix, a purple fuzzy wavy line screen of almost death(PFWLSOAD) followed by BSOD. Initially it appeared on screen the kind of fat fuzzy screen you get from a Windows driver, so I assumed this one of these dreaded Windows auto updates that destroy drivers, but updating NV driver gave response of the new classification of PFWLOAD.
Really the multiple failures I have had in the past 2 months are both coincidental and not, nearly everything reaching end of excellent life and replacement that would have occurred delayed for a year due to chip shortage and profiteering.. seems the only way to buy a $500 card to to pay a scalper $1500 and even retailers seem to be doing this now. NewEgg offering refurbished previous generation cards for far more than the new release price.. Shameful situation.

OK so the RMAed RTX 2080ti off for RMA again after 3 weeks and just prior to end of warranty.
As I was digging in my box of old stuff I found a GTX 1080 that I thought I had given away 3 years ago when I moved, seems I kept it and forgot it was there, so although this not quite an equal replacement for the GTX 1080ti it running fine, had thought the box it in was a very old GTX 780 but it was the box and seems I gave away the 780 in the 1080 box.. ha!

Have my RTX 2080ti back from RMA 3rd time lucky I hope. Now also understand why I retired the GTX 1080 so soon after getting the GTX 1080ti the output difference is incredible, the ti was like a whole generation more powerful in this model. Still am back up to 3 gpu folding and best I can do during these chip shortage times, have been on a waiting list for an RTX 3080 since February and expect this situation to continue for quite a while.
Team output has jumped significantly recently, not due to me, wonder if this post northern summer overheating slowdown or extra capacity of old members and new ones joining.

Attention NV GPU folders, a new core version is being rolled out on the 15th, please check your drivers version meet the minimum requirement.

We have used CUDA Toolkit 11.2 for these builds in order to support the latest, fastest NVIDIA GPUs. This may result in older GPUs or drivers that are no longer supported by CUDA 11.2 to fall back to OpenCL instead; you may need to update your NVIDIA driver to one that supports CUDA 11.2 (linux >= 460.32.03, windows >=461.09) if this happens.
