Galaxy VS Iphone

#1  Postby aban57 » Feb 01, 2012 8:44 pm

Hello guys,

I'm going to buy my first smartphone in the next months. After reading tests and articles, it looks like Galaxy S2 is a little better than Iphone 4S.

To be honnest, I hate Apple's policy in general. I hate closed systems, and I think Apple products are way too expensive for what they are in general. But I recognize that their market is much better, even though it gives me buttons just to think about iTunes.

So I'd like to have objective opinions in order to make an "enlighted" choice :)

I have the Galaxy SII (LTE Version), model: i727 a.k.a. Skyrocket

It is completely awesome, no two ways about it. If you look at the specs the hardware outperforms in almost every way. Not to mention the Android OS is every bit as good. Most people have a hang up on the open source market that android run, but I find it to be every bit as good.

I can't say enough good things about it, but I know the Apple clan will be along to make their case. :mob:

Bet that peeved them off.

I have the Galaxy S2.
Bigger and better screen, and open source soon to be updated to 4.0. (Or get the 4.0 now by rooting the phone.)

Nuff said.

Just bought my first smartphone ever two days ago. Went with the Galaxy S2 for a few reasons. It did get slightly better test results than the iPhone, it was significantly cheaper (440 Euro compared to the 700 bucks for the iPhone 4S), and I don't own anything else produced by apple. Thus I would have to use iTunes, and that iCloud system they have in order to get data on the phone, because it doesn't have an USB port (iirc), and I didn't feel like doing all that.

So far I'm very happy with my little Android, but as I said, it's only been two days... ;)

Some of the customised OS on Galaxy are awesome.
The price more than anything else has me sold. Less for more. Of course I'm getting it.

Understatement!

Galaxy S2 is more durable (Gorilla glass, for example), has WAY more customization options, better hardware specs, better overall screen (true blacks, saturated colours, not that kind of washed out backlit screen the iPhone has) etc etc.

Don't get me wrong, iPhone has its place too*, just not #1 :D

*The only two things I can come up with is the App Store (still better selection than Android market though the latter is getting better each day) and the overall more polished look of the iPhone...not really too convincing. No-brainer, really :)

goning to put a vote in for my phone. the galaxy note. essentially its a bigger S2. but the 1280*800 screen is just so much more usable than S2. and despite the huge screen. its easy to fit in the pocket.

on top of that the digitiser pen is somewhat useful when dealing with non mobile optimised sites as it makes it easy to select text links.
as I mentioned on the nokia thread Im getting a good 2 days battery life from it.

and hopefully when my stuff arrives from china, my hub "hack" should be awsome. (hdmi out, usb slave, usb host + digital audio out)

size comparison, note vs S2

Actually, for a phone I find the iPhone has the best size in terms of width and height, I already think the S2 is a bit too big for my taste. Granted, it's slim and I got used to it pretty quick but I often hear comments from others how big mine is.

tbh, unless you have tiny hands, the note doesn't feel that big. worth having a look at it in RL, (not that any of the stores local to me had it) I got mine at a good price (£25 a month, free phone, whereas normally going for £35 a month and still wanting £100 or so for it)

I have the 4.5" screen S2, I believe the regular size is 4.3" but you can actually get a model in the States that's about 4.65"!

For browsing the web etc, I really like my screen size. I even watch Xmen on netflix on it.

The Galaxy S2/Note (or Nexus) aren hardware wise and Os wise far supoerior to the iphone. Especially with ice cream sandwich, android is just the better OS compared to iOS. The only thing that beats android, let's be frank, is app selection on the market. That, though, isn't as much of a problem on phones as it is on tablets (because the android market does have loads of phone apps by now).

So yeah, go with the galaxy. I'll get one of these soon, too, I think.

I have the Galaxy S, one of my brothers has the S2. We both love them dearly, so guess what I'm going to root for.
The price difference between the S2 and the iPhone makes it a no-brainer already, even if they were on equal footing specs-wise, which they aren't. The Galaxy S2 is just superior in every aspect, except maybe app selection. But honestly, though, how many ten thousands of apps does one really need?

All smartphones are pretty much the same. The most important question is what plan/network to go with, that is where the real cost is.

If you can choose either with your plan (for the same price), I'd go with whichever one is less likely to break, or cheaper to fix.

So, you already have sufficient subjective opinion for the choice you made back in the first paragraph and now you want some people to provide (as they will) confirmatory information.

It'll only take some time before a true schism will occur. Once this happens, Bloody sunday will seem like a kids' party. :mob:

My wife has a smartphone (htc) which has an android OS and I like working with it.
As I pointed the gun at the baby, I decided to add to the dramatic atmosphere.

The reason why I asked OBJECTIVE opinion is because I am ready to change my mind if I am given information that Iphone has advantages that S2 hasn't. Otherwise I wouldn't ask the question.

I know that Iphone camera is better, but I won't use it.

So stop assuming that I created that post just to troll about apple vs the world, and don't insult me again.

Well the 4s has Siri. So if you don't find giving your phone commands in public, maybe that'll be something you want?

I guess you meant "if you don't find stupid giving...." Actually I do, that's not a feature I would use, but it's actually very cool.

And if I start using it, I may end up like Raj...
