Ok sorry for the bait, it's not exactly Minority Report level but hey...it's a start and pretty cool :D

This is Samsung's "Transparent Smart Window" technology they introduced at CES 2012

Apple have something like this coming up soon as well.

Though I'm glad someone else is doing it, probably for cheaper 'cause I wouldn't have an Apple product in my house if you gave me one for nothing.

Reported for trolling. Oh come on, we can now expect a shitstorm of Windoze fan bois "Yeah, PCs are way better than crApple", & the Apple users smugly saying "It just works". We'll get somebody talking about how cheaply they made their PC, with egg cartons, stick-backed plastic & an old B&W TV set. Then someone will chip in with "Ya, boo, sucks! Ubuntu is best, losers!", and so on, ad sodding infinitum.

OK, I haven't really reported Ani, but really ...

Very cool. I'm guessing the "tiny town" model behind the glass is an optional feature.

Not trying to start a war. Just saying I'm glad non-Apple users will be getting something like this at a more reasonable price.

You could've left it there and walked away :dunno:

Words to that effect.

I'm looking forward to seeing on the LOL thread lots of cats, dogs and other pets unintentionally doing stuff with the smartwall.

interesting, BUT, this seems to be working on incident light. so the screen would useless at night. ok, granted with cameras the other side you can make adjustments to lighten/darken the screen in response, but I suspect this will still end up patchy.

on the apple thing, expect samsung to be sued for stealing apples idea by demonstrating it first......

I guess its just a more transparent tft, > cue diy projectors

related to it, and fixes the problem I suggested,

http://www.reghardware.com/2012/01/20/basf_and_philps_create_transparent_oled_solar_car_roof/
They imagine the roof being transparent during the day. In the dark, the OLED illuminates and shuts out the night.

I wouldn't have one of those higher-quality build, higher-tech, better-designed, better made machines in my house either, obviously it ain't the tech side of apple that sucks, it's that if you used an i-pain, er i-pane window for anything from ordering pizza to ordering groceries, to getting movie tickets, apple would demand an obscene fee from the vendors, and any independent access to your window besides from peeping toms would be blocked.

BUT I WANT ONE, and then I can play weird slasher movies with the transparancy turned up and freak the neighbors out.

Nope, it works at night as well:

lose a hell of a lot of backlight out the other side(see the buildings reappear with the light activated).
I would have been more impressed had they allowed people both sides, by having it static (with diffuse light, as opposed to direct light and shadows that you can reasonably expect in real life) they had no need to show any kind of light compensation.

the x's in the corner seem to suggest a desktop OS. so likely some version of windows or linux (mac would be on the other side (as would ubuntu standard - though I fixed mine so they're the right way)) as its samsung its possible it was based on Bada,
[edit]according to this source, its run on android

in fact, this is a project I wanted to do, there are plenty of suitable screens around already, think ipod mini, small mobiles, these have tft's small enough to fit on the lens. they're also cheap and easy to get hold of, the problem being however, is the controllers, which are specific to each tft, and are a bugger to get hold of.

DARPA works on ‘virtual reality’ contact lenses

The Defense Advanced Research Projects (DARPA) agency is working with Innovega to create wearable contact lenses with tiny, full-color displays that digital images can be projected onto to give the wearers better situational awareness in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) activities, according to the agency.
