I don't think that's what he was saying. He was talking about cutting military spending in half, his point seems to be that we shouldn't have those bases since they don't really do anything and nobody actually wants them. He pointed out the normal policy in the world community is to not have bases all over the place.

You're right, I was maligning Dan Carlin; listening again, it was the other guy who said that, and I'm not sure he wasn't quoting Trump.
