The one I that most admire is
Isaac Newton. He may nowadays be
remembered just for discovering gravity
but there was so much more to him than that
He was a polymath extraordinaire. Mathematician
physicist, chemist, philosopher and linguist. He was
the President of both the Royal Society and the Royal Mint
He co invented calculus, discovered the true nature of light and
invented the reflecting telescope. He wrote Principia Mathematica. He
possessed a voracious mind and would go without sleep on many occasions
Nor was he averse to performing dangerous experiments in the pursuit of science
He did not suffer fools gladly and may have been arrogant but had the knowledge to back
it up. He totally revolutionised physics in the seventeenth century. However all that was merely
just a side show for him. His real passion was alchemy. He did waste half a life time trying to turn metal
into gold in order to validate the existence of God but the man s insatiable curiosity was limitless and this coupled
with his genius is why I admire him. He was quite simply one of the greatest minds that has ever lived. We owe him so much
