...and having a good time there. The people are mostly welcoming there, and up for a good debate. I'm not the only skeptic there, either I'd recommend it to anyone interested. A few of the threads that I've been involved in:

I've been a member of various islamic forums for over 4 years now, you tend to get a wide cross section, normal people through to out and out nutters.

Mention them Jooz though and all bets are off.
For me, the value of a climb is the sum of three inseparable elements, all equally important: aesthetics, history, and ethics

I might want to join this site, been a bit bothered by the fact that we only seem to get nutter Muslims around here (maybe all the real ones are just quiet? ) It is pretty lame that they won't let you read the forum without signing in, though.

I was able to read the conversation on the middle link. What's with the guy who uses smiley faces in place of periods? Weird.

Strange we can see that one. Still, seeing the apologetic wriggling doesn't make me want to see any more.

Yeah. I thought I was kicking his ass, but good. Then turns out he's a 15 year old kid.

There's a sticky post there somewhere that recommends the use of smileys when debating, to avoid causing offense. I guess he really took it to heart. I quite like him, actually.

Sorry, I didn't realize you couldn't access the links directly. Maybe thru the homepage?

Yeah, sad to say. It's the one thing that seems to unite Muslims.

Looks interesting, though I'm too lazy no join. Since they mention the scientists who endorsed the Quran so much you might like to show them this recent 6 minute interview with one of them, Alfred Kroner, who exposes the whole charade.

Yeah him and the TheIslamMiracle are the best channels that debunk Islamic nonsense.

Coincidentally, I've still got the following on my clipboard from another thread:
The Bible, the Qur’an and Science was written in 1976 by Dr Maurice Bucaille, a French physician who worked for King Faisal of Saudi Arabia.
It doesn't include the bit declaring it apologetic bullshit - hardly necessary, though.

I can only read this link:

Shrunk wrote:http://www.ummah.com/forum/showthread.php?294994-Science-Section-On-Ummah-Forum

Regarding this:
86:5 So let man consider from what he is created.
86:6 He is created from a gushing fluid
86:7 That issued from between the loins and ribs.

The correct translation for verse 7 ist between backbone and ribs.
l-ṣul'bi - the backbone
http://corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp? ... 86&verse=7

I once made this pic for a discussion about this subject:
Image

Illustrates the stupidity of it pretty well. Plus, we're not created from a gushing fluid, but from sperm and egg.

If you want to rile them up, you can ask them about this:
http://www.faithfreedom.org/comics/05.htm
Now this is from Bukhari, therefore sahih. :plot:

(Don't link to FFI though, you would get banned.)

Or this one:
http://www.faithfreedom.org/comics/12.htm
(Sahih too, because from Muslim.)

A bit of a tangent - and obviously not at all like this situation - but you did bring this funny and wise quote to mind:

Neal Stephenson wrote:
Arguing with anonymous strangers on the Internet is a sucker's game because they almost always turn out to be—or to be indistinguishable from—self-righteous sixteen-year-olds possessing infinite amounts of free time.

I see they have similar issues:

Perhaps, the prophet, Allahu Akbar, will shed some light on it.

Well, it was epilepsy that he had, but it was once confused with mental illness. So as he lived in the past and modern Muslims are inclined to live in the past, he might indeed be able to offer some advice.

The topic of evolution has come up. There are some Muslims who are not deniers. Many of the others are absolutely barking. One guy actually brought up the "Satan buried the fossils" claim. With the cooperation of the Illuminati, apparently.

Just wanted to share my pain. Actually, it's still kinda fun. For now.

I still don't know whether you can access these links to the threads , but here they are FWIW:

Simple answer without thinking for nano-second, I would prefer belief over science, any day.
