A MAN charged over the whipping of a Muslim man as punishment for drinking alcohol has had his bail conditions changed in a Sydney court - because his parents don't want him living with them.
Wassim Fayad, 43, was arrested and charged earlier this week over the alleged attack in which a Silverwater man was lashed 40 times with an electric cable.
The victim, 31-year-old Christian Martinez, was allegedly restrained by four men who broke into his unit and whipped him as punishment under sharia law for drinking alcohol.
Fayad was granted conditional bail at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday.
The court heard four men inflicted the punishment for religious reasons.
Fayad was ordered to lodge $10,000 for his release and eventually left custody the following day.
On Friday, he reappeared before the Burwood court to appeal his bail conditions.
While he had been ordered to remain at his parents' Auburn address, they had told him they were not happy with him staying there, Fayad's lawyer said.
