I get texts from doctors using "u", it has nothing to do with intelligence or education, just convenience when sending a text.

I remember when the proposals for new spelling rules were being discussed in Germany, years ago, a journalist made the very good point that writing is for readers, not writers; so that changes which make life easier for writers, but harder for readers, are to be avoided.
