On the x-coordinate, there is straight line AB, point A is fixed on the x-coordinate, point B is located at any point x-coordinates, to describe this function ?

y = 0 for all x ∈ [A,B]

Technically, we could have a long, stupid argument about whether it is a relation or a function. Let's call it a "thingie." There are lots of ways to describe such a thingie. There are also lots of such thingies.

It's a significant problem in graphing thingies. As I mentioned in an unrelated thread, I saw a paper on how to do it using ranges and decomposition of the plane (in this case, they used a quad tree, but there are other possible ways).

Elucidate a little?

I just wanted to give some sort of response to our new member, conscious that it was a very trivial one.

About what? Relations vs. functions, how to represent them, or how to graph them? Your example is perfectly fine.

Well, that's a relief. I interpreted your post - wrongly, I now see - as indicating that the question was more sophisticated than I had realised, and that there was a well-known issue with regard to the mathematical representation of paths and shapes, my ignorance of which I had inadvertently revealed.

no

solution : A=a , B=x , AB=y

a) y=|a-x|

b) y=-|a-x|

c) y=a-x

d) y=x-a

Mathematics official says geometric objects measures must be positive numbers, say my function to geometric objects measures may be negative numbers

question - how to make it look proceedings graphics of my functions in the plane (Cartesian coordinate system)
