Playing an online version of scrabble with 8 tiles per turn

Playing a game with my GF and a different game with my daughter in a different city at the same time.

This comes up on the two games - sort of made me cross eyed

Image

what were the odds of 7 of 8 tiles being identical? :ask:

I just noticed an X was played on the last turn in both games as well. :what:

What are the letter frequencies in this game?

Had it been the first random draw from the bag, the odds would be like 3.59829962 × 10^-9 (I could be wrong!) but so many letters have already been used in both the boards, the probability is much much higher.

Don't think it shifts all that much.

I suspect its a summary of the odds on drawing the same letter in each game 0 then doing that 7 out of 8 times.

for instance for matching As - 8 in 100 etc.

So the frequency of 7 of 8 would be higher early in the game.

You're going to have an easier time with a Monte Carlo simulation than an actual precise computation, I believe. And the question is effectively indeterminate for midgame situations as well, depending on the types of words particular players may be apt to form.
Here infrequently. I am a messenger and human. Haven't actually been given much info on who is responsible for sending the message. I will get back to you on that if I find out before you.
