what's the truth?

My wife and I got a Nespresso machine as a gift. For those who don't know, this is an easy-for-dummies-delicious-espresso-every-time machine. It pumps high-pressure and high temperature water through small disposable aluminum capsules that contain the coffee. I should say this - it really works. I was skeptical, but it is remarkably easy and makes great espresso every time.
But we've heard that ingesting even very small amounts of aluminum can be harmful (e.g., that there's some evidence linking it to Alzheimer's). The recommendation is that one shouldn't cook with aluminum saucepans, for instance.
So I'm concerned about using these aluminum capsules - several every day. Is there any truth to this?

No truth at all.
8% of the world's crust is aluminium.
It is everywhere.
If it were toxic we'd all be dead.

Not really.
No.
Have a swin in the sea. Full of sodium, it is.
Plenty of sodium in your blood too.
Metallic sodium is not found in nature and is only dangerous because it is reactive. Aluminium metal is very unreactive.
Wikipedia wrote:Aluminium metal is too reactive chemically to occur natively. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals

Oversight on my part. Apologies from the Management. Next time you're in New York, espresso is on me*. As well as free popcorn, of course.
*I'm serious about that. Let me know if you're coming to the Big Apple and we'll get together.

Though the guy said specifically it was from smoking from aluminium as the burning released all the 'chemicals' and you inhale them. Well I guess that's how these stories go, changing gradually over time and becoming more personalised and specific to the audience.

The chemicals come from the illicit substances, not the can.

We are 100% made of chemicals. Every piece of food you have ever eaten is made of chemicals. If you have children you will be surrounding them and filling them with chemicals all day, every day.
Just saying.
