I think you have to have a pre-op (pre-operative assessment) first, which is a round of blood tests etc. to make sure you are fit to go through surgery. More here: http://www.patient.co.uk/doctor/Pre-Operative-Assessment-Examination-and-Tests.htm I take it they do the same sort of thing in Ireland. My understanding is that if you are passed fit for surgery, that lasts for a few months before you would have to have it done again. This is how one UK hospital does things - http://www.eastcheshire.nhs.uk/Our-Services/Pre-operative-assessment.htm I don't know what the waiting list is like. Don't get any cuts or owt though, they won't touch you if they're not healed by the time of your op.

Well I missed my appointment thanks to Dublin Bus. Over an hour and 20 mins I waited in Santry for a bus which, according to the timetable, runs every ten minutes :nono:
I wouldn't mind but one pulled off from the bus stop as the bus I got into Santry pulled in. Not that it bothered me at the time as I just though, fine, there'll be one in ten minutes.
I just rang them and they've to send out a new appointment. Fuck knows when I'll get that.

Ah fuckit! I don't drive so I have to rely on public transport too. Fucking drives me insane. The Tube made me late for one of my Masters exams once, even though I left home like 3 hours early - the train pulled into Edgware Road and was supposed to carry on, but we sat there and sat there and sat there until finally we got an announcement that we were to get off, go to another platform and catch the train there. So we did that...and sat there and sat there and sat there...and then came another announcement which told us we were to get off that train and go back to the original one. So we did that and sat there and sat there and sat there...I ended up 10 minutes late, panting and sweating and completely stressed out. Fortunately my uni let me in. Absolute bollocks. I hope you don't have to wait too long for another appointment.

There's a sig if ever I saw one.

The woman on the phone seemed understanding and was very helpful. Hopefully I'll have one within the week.

My mum had her Gallbladder out on Friday - she's now got a little jar with a dozen nasty looking gallstones in it - black and ranging in size from a few millimetres to two that are over 2cm each.
I'll start believing in Astrology when all Sagittarians get hit by a bus on the same day, as predicted.

So much for the dreadful state of US health care. As a Veteran I schedule a ride with the van and get a lunch voucher. If I miss the ride back they put me up in a local hotel for the night.

How is that relevant to health care?
The problem with fantasies is you can't really insist that everyone else believes in yours, the other problem with fantasies is that most believers of fantasies eventually get around to doing exactly that.

It's ok. I threw a baby in amongst them and left it to be mollycoddled to death while I made my escape through the colonoscopy ward.

This is bullshit. All the other doctors are flying through their patients, the waiting room is clearing up, but my guy has only gone through two people in the couple of hours Ive been here.
All least the old people aren't bothering me with their oldness any more.
