GAC 2012

#1  Postby Goldenmane » Mar 31, 2011 3:35 am

In case no one has mentioned it, the news has just been made official.

http://www.atheistconvention.org.au/

No info re: speakers as of yet, but the last one was pretty fucking cool and anyone who wants to have a drink with me should fucking well come to this one.

Why is Australia on their logo? It's meant to be a "global" atheist convention.

Because it is, in large part, being organised by the Atheist Foundation of Australia, and being held in Australia.

I'm sure if you wanted to donate your time and resources to, for example, designing a more catholic logo, they'd be more than happy to take you up on the offer. As I understand it, this sort of shit takes a lot of time and effort to get across all the details, and those who've stepped up make a fairly smallish team.

Last GAC, I'm reliably informed, cost one particular organiser a good 6 months of time and effort that could otherwise have been spent profitably pursuing, well, profit.

In other words: Do you want to do this? You're welcome to it.

What, design a logo? I don't think that's necessary, they could just change the picture of Australia to a globe. It's a global atheist convention for atheists around the globe, not just australia. And you don't need to put a picture of australia on there, they can just say with words where it's being held and who organised it, rather than misleading people. Pictures say a lot and I don't think whoever designed that logo has given very much thought to that.

I know you've been banned for being a sock puppet, but I thought I'd respond for the shits and giggles. What you've just done, in that paragraph, is (in part) design a fucking logo.

You're not very good at this, are you?

Awesome!

I'll be going to this! I missed the last one, and I'm not going to miss out on another...so what if it co-incides with my ten-year wedding anniversary?? I'll have to drag Tom along to see if he wants to stick it out for another ten years! :P

Is this of the same species as the one in Melbourne last year (or was it the year before)?

I would love to go, missed out on the last one because of work, but that shouldn't be a problem now. :)

I don't have a chance of getting there. Stupid rural placements. Stupid Qantas jacking up prices.

C'mon people, can we raise the tone of this thread, please? STFU, Bolero and DB, and let's get on with celebrating the GAC!
