Gram Parsons was a Floridian, he attended the same boarding school I did, 7 years before me. Lynyrd Skynyrd played at our high school dances. Then there's Tom Petty, Bo Diddly, The Allman Brothers, Jim Morrison, Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, .38 Special, Ray Charles, Flo Rida, Miami Sound Machine, KC and the Sunshine Band, Mofro, The Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose, Pitbull, Terence Trent D'Arby, Jimmy Buffet (we've adopted him, he was born in Alabama), Limp Bizkit, Florida Georgia Line, The Royal Guardsmen (Snoopy and the Red Baron), Slim Whitman, Mel Tillis. Lots of jazz guys, Cannonball Adderley and his brother Nat, Pee Wee Ellis, Fats Navarro, and a lot of session players.
Best? I'd go with The Allman Brothers. They were from my home town, Daytona, Greg used to show up regularly and sit in with local bands.
