I liked The Monkees as a kid, and member Shanana?  I loved that show.
This is the first time I've watched it in like 40 years. Holy crap, it's bad. :picard:

This was #1 when I was born. Plus I remember the Oh God films from when I was little and he acted in them.
Also, it's a nice, reserved ballad.

Now, to wipe away the virtual tears. This is a nice, unreserved, kickass motherloving anthem. :headbang:

It's hard to explain why I like Bob Dylan. He has a terrible voice, on any normal measure.

But I do, god help me, I even went to see him once at the Olympiahalle at Munich; and the other day I remembered this album of covers of traditional songs that I first got to know by randomly taking it out of the public library in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen about twenty years ago, and over the last couple of days I've been listening to this my favourite of those covers:

And this live version is also damn good.

Apparently you have to go to YouTube to watch it.

I have recently developed an almost obsessive interest in the career of Joshua Lee Turner. He's a genius-level multi-instrumentalist who produces his own music videos, many of professional quality. He's approaching age 30, now, but his career is 15 years in the making, already, on youtube at least. Here's a representative cover (but you should check out his Paul Simon covers, if you're into it -- he has some songwriting chops as well, just not shown off here, covering another highly-esteemed artist):

I've always called it a bumblebee voice - it shouldn't be able to fly, but it does.

(And yes, I know that's a myth)

His son, Jakob, sounds very much like him but is much more mellifluous.

Ah, yes! "One Headlight". A shining moment for Jakob, one might say.

One headlight is good, I didn't know that's Bob Dylan's son. I saw Bob Dylan in concert when he was around 60.

When did I see him, let me think; that would have been around then too. About 2003 or so.

It was pretty bad, to be honest. Other concerts of his that I've seen or heard, recorded, like the one I linked to, have been much better.

I've been following him for years. His album Public Life is well worth a listen. So Far So Long / Nostalgia is up there with my favorite songs of all time.
