Growers - listening again despite initial dislike/neutrality

#1  Postby Keep It Real » Apr 20, 2019 7:21 am

I don't do this with pop music much, but "richer" music often grows on me and I end up adoring an album I initially thought "meh" to. Personal prime examples which spring to mind include Prince, Cocteau Twins and Level 42 discographies. DnB I tend to make my mind up on straight away, and there are few examples of tracks "growing" on me IIRC - I think this may be due to my being so very familiar with the genre. Tell your tales

Edit: thread title grammar.

For me, 808 State's 90 and ex:el albums have grown on me from an initial liking of maybe two or three songs on each of them. I will now take the time to listen to them both in full.

Level 42's discography has been on my recent playlist as well, in rotation.

RE Level 42 - Running in the Family I knew and loved because it was a sound of my childhood - no need to grow with that one. All the other albums I found required at least 2 listens before really "getting," bar, as you say, a track or two. Still not a fan of World Machine though...must listen to it again I guess....must listen to music I don't like.....funny old world lolz
