Ah man, Testament, hells yeah! They were the last band I saw before I left the UK. They were supported by Anaal Nathrakh (UK extreme metal), and Warbringer (bay-area thrash revival). All three bands blew my face off, one of my favourite gigs of all time.
And man I
love anthrax. The earlier stuff more than the later stuff. They are fantastic live too. I've seen the big 4 of thrash live, and I'd rate Anthrax second after Slayer. I really like Megadeth, Dave Mustaine is just so bloody boring on stage. Megadeth don't really do much of a live show. Metallica do a better live show, but I just can't stand them these days anyway.
And I was wondering when At the Gates might show up

I got into The Haunted before At the Gates, and only found them by reading about The Haunted's history. I love quite a few of their tracks, but I wish their early albums didn't have such shit production

I find "Terminal Spirit Disease" and "The Red in the Sky is Ours" both quite difficult to enjoy. I'd love them to rerecord / remaster some stuff.
That is a bit odd though, because I really don't mind early thrash recordings, which were often equally shitty (like the Bonded by Blood vid I linked before), I just think Death Metal relies more on good quality production than Thrash. Both Thrash and Death (particularly Swedish

) are my two favourite broad genres, though I do have a soft spot for others as well. I like these guys who have some progressive tendencies:

Some Darkane there.
Their neighbours the Fins also put out some good music too, some great folk metal which I have enjoyed, like these guys:
Ensiferum (with one of their less folky songs)

and Wintersun:

Wintersun's second album
"Time"is a contender for the title of "Duke Nukem Forever of metal" as well

been 'in development' for nearly 5 years, the first release date was in 07, and it still hasn't been released.
