If you can hear it, you've overdone it. With reverb, subtlety is the key.

i know what you're saying , but i dont think there are any hard & fast rules - what i am saying there are no rules - it either sounds good or it doesnt.

But generally i agree reverb can sound terrible, i have a friend who is nervous about his vocals and doesnt seem to realise it sounds worse...

I can't remove any of the reverb, since it was the amp's. That little Vox is a blast to record with, though. Really nice.

Main problem now (for me) is recording the rest of the song while making sure it doesn't sound discontinuous. It's rather difficult to get my acoustic guitar to sound the same way twice in my living room.

Agreed, but reverb rarely sounds good if you can hear it.

If overused, certainly. The idea with reverb in production is to bring all the instruments into the same room. There has been a tendency to add more to the vocal, which is one of the reasons that the modern paradigm has been to have the vocal sitting above the rest of the mix, which is horrible, IMO. All parts should be subservient to the mix.

Nah. There are countless examples of reverb sounding good in music. In fact, there are entire genres of music reliant on a pronounced reverb effect.

You're right about vocals, though, I think. They used to be in the mix, now they're usually on top of everything.

I think they've been taking their "artyness" too far lately, tbh. I like OK Computer. A lot. I liked Kid A at the time, though I can't seem to be able to get back to it now. Never really liked Amnesiac. Hail To The Thief had some pretty good moments, but that one was really the last one I've really been able to get into. Everything I've heard from them since that album seems like... dunno, a lot of pointless noodling and doodling.

Yeah, the newer stuff I'm not a big fan of, although there are some gems here and there. That seems to happen to a lot of bands though - hitting a plateau and then getting worse as they age. Case in point: Smashing Pumpkins. The new album is just weird.

Heh... I gave that a first listen yesterday. Not particularly impressed, so far.
