Nostalgic Songs

Been watching the 1976 Top of The Pops on BBC4, each week they're showing the equivalent week's edition from 1976.
Some absolute dross, a lot of instantly forgettable flops, but a few songs that bring back some happy memories of the era, studying(?) for my 'A' levels, like

I used to house-share with a guy who was clinically obsessive about Santana. He even had a perm and grew a little goatee to look like his hero. At a certain point in the proceedings this album would come out and he'd amuse us by miming the vocals and the guitar parts. Oh how we laughed, the more so because he was increadibly earnest. Whenever I hear Santana I think of this album cover - usually with some torn up rizlas and broken cigarettes scattered across it. :oops:

The guy ended up working at Wilko. He got married to a work colleague, an ample woman 20 years his senior, with kids his age! I went to the wedding - she didn't seem the Santana type to me, but it takes all sorts I suppose.

Whoever posted that Return to Innocence by Enigma has just brought back my first year after graduating. I lived in a squalid flat unfit for human habitation with crystalline mould growing on the inside walls (my stereo shorted out due to all the moisture in the air), garden chairs in the kitchen which served as a living room and nothing but a curtain separating off my bedroom from the rest of the flat. I shared with some mates, and some random bloke who no one ever saw, but who regularly came swanning in at 2 or 3 am, whereupon he would put that damn record on full blast EVERY TIME. This means that although I know it's supposed to be a chill-out tune it has totally the opposite effect on me, and sends my blood pressure through the roof. Eventually he took off without paying a penny in rent.

When I was a young Mum and also working as a primary school teacher, I ran aerobic classes for the 9-12s in the lunch hour and this was my (and their) favourite for the warm up.

I still love it now and it brings back memories of dashing between Nursery and school to scoop up my children and doing quick changes at lunchtimes. We had an HMI inspection one week and I ended up with a group of them at the back of the hall during the aerobics, then they followed me straight into my afternoon maths lesson and they brought me some of their biscuits and coffee because they said I hadn't had time to eat anything! :lol:
