I had to look up the story behind the bird inlays on the fretboard. Cool.

The hum buckers sound great, growly, plenty of bass. With the volume knobs pulled out, making it a single coil, it sounds similar to the bridge and saddle PU's on my Strat. I only have a year of playing so can't really do it justice yet, mostly open chord rhythm and a bit of fumbley power chords. It is the one that makes me lose track of time when I pick it up though, so I think that means it's The One.

Question for all you gear types. I currently play electric guitar in a band with an acoustic guitar and standup electric bass and drums. My guitar is Ibanez and amp is a fender cyber twin. I like to add a little distortion but it quickly gets to where it doesn't mesh with the acoustic. What is the tonal quality that isn't meshing? I think of it as being too cold or maybe too bright but I think there is some dynamic range issue. Anyone have any ideas?

From your description my mind went to Slowdive for some reason. Shoegazy distortion on guitars and yet the vocals bass and leads have real presence still.

That EHX pedal looks interesting (surprised by the amount of Boss in the setup!!) but I would maybe start with slapping an EQ in your chain and futzing with that.

The amp has quite a bit of eq control. What would I be looking for in terms of adjusting?

Hard to say without hearing. Dynamic range as in frequency, or volume? Compression's used for controlling volume, if it's too bright obviously turning down the treble is something easy to try, as I'm sure you have. Looks like there's lots of effects on that amp, including different amp sim settings. I find 4K can be a bit harsh on amps, maybe start there.

I was going to say, it’s tough to know unless you know how and what is being played on the acoustic. If it’s plucked arpeggiated notes you will want to hear the ring of each individual string in which case SAM’s advice is good.

4k? And yes, the amp is basically a computer.

4 kilohertz, a frequency in the audio spectrum. In case the amp allows you more fine EQ control than hi-mid-low.

I really love my new guitar. It has such a great feel to it.
I promised my other half I'd sell the Ibanez because we don't have room (apparently) for 3 guitars but now I don't want to. Instead Ive turned it into a drop C guitar.

Don't know how to tell her I'm eyeing up a Godin parlour guitar for finger picking.

I'd say you'd be able to make a better case for it if you get real good at fingerpicking on the 3 guitars you've already got.

Of course, I'm one to talk. Only have one guitar and two basses (actually, where the hell is that 2nd one...), but getting close to a dozen synths!

Well I'm starting to get good finger picking, it's fastly becoming my preferred style. Won't be getting that for a long while anyway. Still might sell the 8-string if I don't start making use of it really soon.

Props to the guy who just tremolo picks a muted C through pretty much the whole of Eye of the Tiger.

I mentioned before about using Neural DSP plugins and how great they were. Well it looks like they're bringing out their own floor modeller.

Not sure how it compares to the similarly priced Kemper Stage but it sure looks nice.
