Woooh my kinda thread. I really love dark, tech step drum n bass and hardcore techno/gabba/industrial whatever you want to call it. No cheesey, screechy "nu style" crap though :)

I don't know if this qualifies, as they seem to have fun while doing it. ;)

I think it qualifies very well as rave. It reminds me of a lot of parties I've been to. It's not my taste though, a little too poppy, pop dressed in techno clothes. Clever video though, they earn their fanbase.
As a contrast, I offer this, some great Belgian music:

Something I felt about techno early on was that it was quite diversified. When I got into it, jungle was breaking. The difference between trance, techno, house and ambient was pretty pronounced for people who were into it. Calling it all techno would be like calling rock, pop, jazz, and acoustic, 'guitar'.

Let's make this thread official.

Happy hardcore overlaps with bouncy techno which overlaps with older gabba. That link is very bouncy technoesque.

Gabba hasn't really sounded like that since before 99.

Ok, thanks for the info.

Last time I listened to happy hardcore was before 99, at a friends house. His dad threw us out, didn't quite like the music.

For some reason, I rather like many of the different styles in this thread, despite being a bit over the hill when it comes to other contemporary music. My taste in music spans over 800 years, but I'm more a "sound" kind of guy, not bothering much with texts. If I like a tune, I like it, even if the text is about strangling puppies.

Bloody Beetroots. They have basslines guaranteed to annoy the neighbours.

For something more chilled out FourTet (aka Kieron Hebden) always makes interesting layered albums.
M83 are great at atmospheric electronica. Similar to Air but more shoegazy.
I have a soft spot for japanese electronica
