Aloha

#1  Postby Peavey » Aug 18, 2018 7:38 pm

Hello, everyone. I started thinking of myself as a skeptic back in '05/'06 when I was trying to escape the intense Pentecostal sect I grew up in, and a support forum for ex-Pentecostals had a section for humanists, freethinkers, and skeptics. I didn't know what the first two were, but they sounded like good idea. I got REALLY into it at the time, listening to three or four podcasts, posting on several forums (SGU, InternetInfidels, RDF), that sort of thing, but college took over. I've remained a skeptic/freethinker, but not one who embraces it as my identity. It's just a tool for keeping my mind clear. I have been missing the social side of skepticism, though, poring over things, and decided to see if there were any good forums.

So..hi!

Heh, I'm actually...not anywhere near Hawaii. Gulf Coast. Earlier that day I was working a support ticket for someone who prefaced and ended every email with 'Aloha!", and it just sprung to mind. I figured it would stand out. ;)

Believe it or not, that's exactly where it comes from! I used to operate a Peavey mixer and when I needed a nickname for an online shooter (ST Elite Force), I just used it.

Thanks, all!
