Hello! Another WWGHA refugee here, trying to find my bearings after days of withdrawal from that site. Sorry to read that it seems it will be gone for at least the forseeable future.

I tend to lurk more than post. for the most part, and still sort of checking out what's what here, but looking forward to getting to know more rational thinkers :)

I don't have my copy of The Restaurant at the End of the Universe to hand, so I can't immediately check which of the recipes your name applies to. :)

If you know how to contact some of your fellow former WWGHA'ers, feel free to invite them here. I'd exercise a little caution on the numbers, though, and give our server time to accommodate the new influx!

Actually, that won't be a problem. ;)

Welcome on board anyway. Hope the powers that be get your forum up and running again. Kinda. Then again, we're always cool with an influx of new members, so there.

WWGHA is the "Why won't god heal amputees" site, which has been offline for the past few days and apparently down for the count. I noticed a post by another recent refugee in this section, and the information that the site wasn't going to be coming back in the forseeable future, if ever, so figured more of us might be meandering over here as well. Not being a very prolific poster, I haven't gotten to know any of the members well enough to communicate with them outside of the board, so can't really send out the invites. This looks like a great place, though :)

And, Calilassea, my copy of Restaurant at the end of the Universe has likewise slipped through a wormhole in space. Or my daughter may have absconded with it. But I don't have the "recipe" either. If I recall, the jynnan tonnix was supposed to taste rather like a whiskey and soda...as opposed to the "tzin-anthony-ks" (sp?) which kills cows at twenty paces. Or something like that. I haven't seen the book in 6 or 7 years. Probably time to buy another.

I think you're remembering the details better than you give yourself credit for. I'll check this with my own copy sometime, which merely needs some clutter shifting to get at. :)

Ahhh, that makes sense, I am sure a lot of amputations come from wrestling accidents :shifty:.

It was a hundred paces. Though Adams didn't specify the size of pace. So if you were taking baby steps, it might be considerably more paces, and if you'd let your legs out at the knees, so adding several inches, it might be quite a lot less. I suspect stilts & some serious hopping might be in order to get it down to twenty paces though.
