Does this board have free speech?

#1  Postby UltimoReducto » Feb 28, 2018 5:50 pm

I used to post on another form that got shut down due to politics. I and most others moved to a new forum, and now that one has imploded after a moderator went wild and banned half the members. I'm looking for a new home. Is this an insular sort of community? I hate echo chambers. Will I get banned for voicing unpopular opinions, politely? What is the level of freedom? Help me get acquainted. Thanks!

In my (considerable) experience here I have found that in general controversial opinions are allowed, as long as (cliched) controversial words/phrases are not used - words give rise to thoughts as well as vice a versa and so deeply naughty ones need be avoided. Also giving full justification for one's controversial opinion helps. Just my 2p, but of course listen to kiore primarily on forum policy issues.

We've also had discussions about free speech on this board. I'm the authoritarian feminist side. :awesome:

Put forward a controversial idea, statement, or line of reasoning, and all is good as long as you are not just trolling.
Argue against the idea, the statement, or the line of reasoning, and all is good.
Insult the idea, the statement, or the line of reasoning, and that is mostly ok.
Insult the person and all is bad.

Well, for a start, I'm having a coffee. What else is going on? The weathers finally getting warmer and, oh yes, some pathetic dickhead got canned from this forum for being, well, a dickhead.

Free Speech?

It's a penny a word here, mate!
I have NO BELIEF in the existence of a God or gods. I do not have to offer evidence nor do I have to determine absence of evidence because I do not ASSERT that a God does or does not or gods do or do not exist.

I’ve come across this view many times. It seems like it ought to be a contradiction, and I’m always surprised by how it goes unnoticed. How could a feminist be in favor of authority, unless that authority is already feminist, in which case why do you need the feminism? Yet we all apparently see it as natural for the two to go together, it kind of attests to our real beliefs about patriarchy. It doesn’t exist. More likely the social order is something along the lines of rich men versus poor men with feminists and other authoritarians living inconsequentially as useful idiots.
