Hi DodgyScouser. I tried getting answers at apologetics sites but found that quite a few were doing the same thing, especially when it came to explaining the meaning in the original languages. I spent years teaching myself Hebrew and Greek and I was really disappointed that there were Christian sites spreading falsehoods about translation to other Christians. That was a real faith buster.

Beautiful Queensland, Crocodile Gandhi.

I just noticed the avatars and poster info are on the right hand side of the screen and see you are an Aussie as well. I should have known straight off by you screen name!

Me too Krisime, Brisbane (ex Sunshine Coast, Ex Sydney). Thanks for the interesting tale. I never had religion in the first place and discovered critical and lateral thinking in my teens. I didn't much care about religion until it started intruding into my life via my daughters school, and then I got the shits and became a "gnu atheist".

Hey 'nother Queenslander....

I'm leaving for Cairns for 3 months in 2 weeks and moving there permanently in a couple of years.

Hey country with an atheist woman as a PM has my heart already.....tad warmer than Canada too.

Tip

Enjoy the "freedom from religion" for a while as an atheist before you get into the anti-theist mode.

I came from a fundie background and it's hard to shake the eternal "growl" once you work free of the crap.

Thanks - oddly the anti-theist notion for me came from the girl who is my SigO and will be living with in Cairns and long term.
Liked the concept.
We met on a science singles forum.

Could not be much further apart in physical location but parallel mind sets for certain.
And Aus is gorgeous in that area - 100 million year old rain forest - never glaciated....and the Great Barrier reef a few k off shore.
