Evening all,
Just a new member from Jersey dropping in to say hello. Found the site while tracking down information to debunk some of the more ridiculous memes, (dis)information, and pseudoscientific crap that I've seen filtering through my social media over the last few years. I started out with Rational Wiki, found the light at Orac, started reading the NeuroLogica blog after I found one the posts countering a Jeffery Smith youtube video that was bugging the hell out of me, and ultimately landed here. I'm hoping to broaden my knowledge, since I am little more than a rank layman (but with a decent bullshit detector) in the relevant sciences (BS in natural sciences in undergrad, no grad work) so I can be adequately prepared next time I end up wading into the weeds. Of particular interest to me is recognizing logical fallacies as they come up in conversation, and trying to figure out how as a layman, I can track down and recognize good information/studies from bad. I probably won't have to much to say, but I'm definitely here reading.
Nice to meet you all.
