HELLO! Great forum and many thanks for having me...

#1  Postby aikhme » Dec 08, 2011 1:27 pm

Hello there!

I stumbled on this by accident, but was a member of the Richard Dawkins Forum in the past. Thanks for rescuing me from the icy waters.

This looks like a terrific forum, one that is not soulless.

Are most of the members here from the Richard Dawkins forum that was closed down? Is Richard involved in this interesting venture.

He is my one of my favourite authors.

I hope I can make a valuable contribution here and learn from others as well.

Welcome. To answer your question, no, Mr. Dawkins has no link with this forum.

Thanks guys for your warm welcome.

trubble76, I think it was a terrible shame about what happened at the other forum and how it was shut down by Richard Dawkins. I feel that he should have handled the situation a bit better.

Closing it down was totally bereft of all logic in my opinion.

I'm fine with it, I've much preferred this forum.

Yes me too. This forum is an improvement from what I have gathered so far.

Looks like a very vibrant community. :)

Thanks again to MacIver and Blip.

MacIver,

I don't doubt that there would be few if any Cypriots on this forum. Cyprus is gripped by the GO Church, but one day the Cypriots and Greeks will wake up and realize what they have lost, which is nothing less than free thought, and rationality. Once they were themselves the trend setters which laid the foundations only to be snuffed out by superstition. I think there is a link there somewhere!

Welcome, aikhme! I was a member of the RDF myself. I think you'll like it here; this place retains a lot of the best qualities of our old home - and has evolved, too.

Quite a few of us, yes. This isn't Richard's venture, this place really IS a lifeboat - the Goodship RDF hit a 'berg and went down, and very nearly with all-hands. I don't know if Richard has paid us a visit or not.

Welcome to RatSkep :)

Thanks Orpheus.

Actually, I am enjoying this forum. In many ways, I believe it is an improvement over the RDF. It has truly evolved from that, whilst retaining the best qualities.

Thanks Ironclad.

Personally, I still don't understand why the RDF went down. I think that was irrational. There may have been problems, but they could have been resolved in a more suitable fashion.

But the RDF's death has given birth to this place.
