I'm Heterosexual - I can tell when Bruce Willis pwns Alan Rickman, but Barbra Vs. Celine? Couldn't tell you. :dunno:

I was not referring to your preference for Die Hard, Bart. :naughty2:

I don't think Céline will have regarded it as a competition. Barbra was a guest on this track, as were Diana King, Luciano Pavarotti and the Bee Gees elsewhere on the same album, rather a mixed bag, and she will have been conscious that she was the hostess and will have wanted to allow her guests the space to appear at their best.

Céline took the first verse, which was the only one in piano: all the others, including everything Barbra sang, could be belted out, which is a lot easier to do impressively (assuming you have the voice to do that in the first place). Actually I don't much like Céline's voice when she is singing piano: it's too breathy, as with many who have always relied on the microphone. (I do seem to remember Barbra singing piano rather convincingly: "Memories are so beautiful, and yet...") When they were singing together, Céline largely took a back seat, singing the descant and various accompanying figures, and leaving Barbra to carry the melody. As a combination, it works very well.

Sorry, Scarlett (whose thread this is, after all)!

Really I wanted to tell Fallible and Scarlett, if they happen to drop by, that I am listening to one of my favourite Céline Dion albums, and am feeling very good about it.

I know how pleased they will be for me.
