Hey all. Can you suggest an avatar?

#1  Postby jayzzz » Mar 05, 2013 10:42 am

I was on a plane back from Paris a few months ago, thinking about all the stupid people I know. I decided, that's it, I'm going to be an idiot-slayer. So I've come here to see how the pros do it. Greetings everyone. Can anyone suggest an avatar? Some sort of slayer/warrior figure, striking fear into the heart of idiots everywhere.

No, not really. Avatar is, in my opinion, like skin color, sex, age, nationality, etc. To prevent neurons from firing in ways beyond control it might be preferable not to feed them. Then, all they are left with is substance, not packing. As usual, there is no measure to taste. And .. nazdar!

Maybe something a little less like Silence of the Lambs.

There are some of Hitch when he was young in which he's really brooding and sexy, I'd go for a younger shot

Like so many questions that the universe poses us, the answer is Batman.

Though prior to my usage of The Dark Knight as my avatar, I got some good milage out of the following image (well, just the bit in the thought bubble).

Still too much like Silence of the Lambs (and a few other movies in the adult section).

Batman is closer.

Can I suggest an avatar?
I have the ability, just not the desire.

I usually do these things for myself and pick fabulous avatars for myself, so I don't know what to tell you.

Dunno, probably not. However, as long as they slay idiots they are contextually alright to me.

There is quite possibly a kernel of truth within the Jesus myth, but Son of God walking on water and doing conjuring tricks at weddings? Clearly a fictional character.

The Goddamn Batman, by contrast, may be logically demonstrated to exist. Allow me to elucidate.

P1: The Goddamn Batman is a being of perfect awesomeness.
P2: An actually existing Goddamn Batman would clearly be more awesome than a non-existent Goddamn Batman.
C: The Goddamn Batman exists.

Idiot slayer avatar? If your artistic skills are up to it, how about a laser toting Charles Darwin riding a Triceratops? Several levels of meaning at once in the one package.

[1] Darwin's ideas have been slaying idiot creationists since 1859.
[2] It refers mockingly to the saddled Triceratops model they have in Ken Ham's fantasy "creation museum".
[3] Lasers rely on quantum phenomena, and Darwin was the first scientist to suggest that stochastic phenomena were an essential part of the constitution of the physical universe.
[4] If you can include a Tiktaalik as his sidekick, the avatar will point and laugh at the "no transitional forms" canard creationists routinely masturbate over. If you give him an Archaeopteryx sitting on his shoulder, even better.

It's really not that hard to slay an idiot.

EDIT: Though whether they recognise or agree they have been slayed is another thing again.
EDIT2: whether they or you is the idiot is another other thing.
Religion: it only fails when you test it.-Thunderf00t.
