Same as Ecce Feles above -- a quick Google search was very helpful. I never joined RDF but was an avid reader there for a few months before it was shut down.

I've been absent for quite sometime and had no idea the RDF forums had been archived. I logged in there today and noticed I had a pm...so I followed the link over here and signed up.

There is a section on this forum down below that's purpose is for compiling information and discussion pertaining to that very subject (RDF). Hope this helps and you find what you're looking for there.

A friend recommended this forum to me when I was in dire need of a little sanity after having been exposed to a "nice" brown brew mixed of homophobia, creationism and other fundamentalist bullshit, sanctioned by admin, at a place called :silenced: .

Just looking at the name of this board already makes me feel a lot better. :)

Yeah, first post! ;)

A "friend" of mine (friend in the new, slightly watered-down Facebook kind-of sense) told me about this on a german platform called "StudiVZ", which is pretty much like facebook, only more focussed on students and a little less annoying. Looking forward to contributing here, fellows.

Funnily enough I just happened to stumble across your post and decided to answer, just because your native tongue appears to be German.

Edit: Why don't you pop over to the Welcome-forum and introduce yourself properly with a thread of your own?

I read about this forum in the atheism (atheism subreddit?) at Reddit.com. I don't read the atheism subreddit very often, but I happened to be reading it when the situation with the Richard Dawkins forum occurred. Until that point, I never even knew that there was a discussion forum at Richard Dawkins's website, and so obviously, I never particpated there. Anyway, someone (I don't even remember who it was) posted a link to this forum in the atheism subreddit, and I decided to check it out. I'm glad I did! I'm really enjoying my participation here so far, and I am learning a lot.

I was slightly bemused to find that the forum had closed over at RDF as abruptly as it did. I missed all the posts explaining what had happened and all I saw was the note in the forum itself which only says that a new forum would open "later this month". I was disappointed but decided to wait for the new forum! Although I liked the RDF site, I think its design was quite amateurish (except the forum, that has always been polished). Surely this new update was to address this.

Then I waited... and waited... and waited...

And nothing has happened. I decided to start searching for some answers and finally uncovered the whole mess. I must say I'm very surprised. The main frontpage, although useful was very static, the forum was definitely the heart of the site. I'm gutted that its gone, and I feel for the mods and how they've been treated. Anyway, someone linked to this place in one of the posts I read from a google search.

So thats me. Seems I'll be coming here instead of going there.
