I think my tale is pretty much the same as 100thidiot's. Also I couldn't resist signing up, not when I discovered there's a maths forum... 8-)

Thanks to hermionesotter for the information. Been out of action for a while, but sure the "lifeboat" will aid recovery. Grateful thanks to everyone involved in setting this up.

I was going to join the good ship Dawkins but then it got torpedoed!!

I followed the wreckage over here. After lurking here a bit I decided to sign up.

I was already in a lifeboat. I just saw another one, attached a small bridge and popped over for a visit.

I thought you guys were gone forever! *sniffle* :whine:

I posted a bit but not much on RDF (I was Lainey1978 there), but I read it a lot. One day I went over there and read some confusing posts, then a Very Angry Message from Richard Dawkins. I still don't really understand what happened, though. Next stop after I post this is to go read up on it. There was a message there about a new board to come, and the posts being screened in the future (that's not how it was worded, but that's what I got out of it). So I kept checking back, to see if there were any new posts yet. Nothing. I considered posting on Debating Christianity in the Athiest subforum and asking if anyone knew what happened, but I never got around to it. I checked Cephus's blog, as well. If he posted about it, I didn't see it. Then a few days ago, I decided to check RDF again, and this time I was looking at a thread entitled "Bloody Tee Total Christians". I don't drink, and I've been feeling quite alone, so that thread caught my interest. There, I saw it on an avatar--DaveD's, I think. Maybe Gallstones'. So here I am. There have been times in the past few months where I wanted to go post something on RDF, but I couldn't. :(

I feel like the guy above who said he felt like his parents asked him to go to the store, and then moved away before he got back.

We've used the flotsam in the water to build extensions, so its a bit bigger than a lifeboat now. Welcome aboard.

All I did was google “you fucking bastards” and I found you lot.

I came back from a working holiday in Australia/New Zealand after several weeks and found the board had gone! No email or warning, just vanished.

I googled the forum and found a site that led me here. Glad to have discovered the remnants of the RDF forum and still bewildered what exactly happened and miffed at the fact that some of what I read may actually be true concerning its demise.

I wasn't a major contributor but it's nice to be back among like minded people!

I joined the RDFS forum in Oct 2006 a few weeks after it started and have visited the site daily ever since, until now! I saw the posts grow from a few thousand to over 2 million. I am appalled at the changes recently made, they make no sense. I wonder if Richard has seen the stats, they must have fallen of a cliff.

Anyhow thanks for starting this forum. Last year I started the Cambridge Secular Society (UK). We to have a forum intended originally for local/regional issues but if you want to drop by, you are most welcome.
