I found this place because of the avatars that were changed. I don't know if thats still possible, but if more people could post that link as their avatar or quote I think that would be helpful.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love.

It will be interesting when RDF is up and running again whether those avatars will be removed.

all avatars will be removed as they cause content unrelated traffic

Probably only the stored avatars on rd.net's hard drive, not the ones that link off-site. You can set your avatar there to link here (i.e. not uploading it). Of course, it could be that they reset all avatars.

They do allow avatars on the front page, so it's possible they'll allow them on the new site.

Sounds like it's going to a very boring place. I think I'll stay put here and elsewhere.

I'm praying they stay just how they are for a while! Hopefully forever.
But really, every day they stay there it helps. People are still showing up saying that's the only reason they knew to come here. I would recommend anyone who hasn't done it to change their AVATAR RIGHT NOW. I feel their next step will be to longer be able to log in and change avatars. They'll then just leave to forum to slowly become less and relevant and removing avatars construed offensive...Just a guess. For now though, every day helps us!

the next one to do would be 20 and that list starts at people who posted 455 or less but that also includes people who may have signed up recently as well so there are still people who post a lot lately but haven't been done yet...

What % (roughly) of the PMs you sent have been opened?

That's tough to say. I used multiple accounts and didn't keep track of how many sent/read etc. From a casual look it appears maybe 1/4 read them? Could be a little less. And from those I see some showed up here. I don't remember the names as there were quite a few but I do recognize a few here and occasionally someone will mention in the new members section someone pm'ed them. So, the success rate is pretty low but I have snagged a few active members who like to post a lot!

Well, I was pointed this way by Jerome. I have around 4.500 posts on RDF, and I never received any PM. No matter, but if I never received one, who else didn't either?

If you already mentioned rationalia, had your avatar changed, or I remembered you were here already then I skipped ya! Sorry! :drunk:

I'm not sure if it was mentioned already, but this site is very hard to find if you search for atheism. Something should be done in that sense, because new members will not come if they can't find the site. Atheism as a term is only mentioned in the keyword meta tag in the html head. Nowhere else. It could be added to the title, so that every page reads ie "Topic name: Forum name - Page No * Rational Skepticism Forum - The Atheism Board" or something to that effect. Atheism could also be added to the footer, additional fields could mention it.

RS.org ranks badly even for "skepticism" and it's nowhere to be found for "atheism" or "atheist".
Excuse my ignorance, I wasn't on RD.net.
