A wild MrDoom appeared!

So one day (this one, actually), I get all nostalgic over the RDF forums, misguided humanists and all, and go have a look at its present condition. And what do I find? Closed down almost two years, without even so much as a final closing in the Announcements. I can't help but think of the people of Pompeii, unwittingly flash-frozen in their death stances. What a shame. Guess even secular humanists can act like Christians sometimes.

So I see some familiar names amongst the membership, some more fuzzy than others.

So, eh, what's up, until-not-too-recently-former-Richard-Dawkins-Forumites? We still calling ourselves Dawks? Or are there, y'know, too many hard feelings associated with that meme?

How-dos and hello! No welcome for you.

I still call people Dawks, but more for how it's pronounced rather than spelt.

Nihilist eh? I hear (from a trusted source) they are worse than Nazis.

I remember you -- the screenname rings a bell at any rate.

Don't read that as (anti-human)(ist), but as (anti-)(humanist). I'm critical of the moral imperatives and reasoning which characterize secular humanism -- being equivalent to the same value judgements and reasoning as Christianity and other teleological belief systems, from Anarchism to Capitalism to Fundamentalist Totalitarianism, and everything in between.

This is where I break with fellow atheists -- the subject of Enlightenment-era values and attitudes regarding morals and values. Secular humanism, as I view it, simply replaces God with other, equally nebulous values and fixed ideas. Instead of God, we are to hold reason, logic, Man-with-a-capital-M, notions of "truth", "freethought", and "humanity" as the highest values, sacrosanct, and to serve their cause. A mere change of memetic masters, as it were.

Really, I see the universe as one big joke, that has no meaning, no purpose, and human life consequentially has no intrinsic value or worth, morality is bunk. Life's punchlines are the ideologies and belief systems people delude themselves into following (sometimes fighting, killing, and dying for). I realize that it may not be a popular opinion, and it's probably necessary for human life to persist that most people do not come to my conclusions regarding ethics and value judgements. But it is the judgement I have come to. Whether or not others agree is not important.

Reference Max Stirner's radical egoism. He is one of my influences since becoming an amoralist.

"All things are subject to interpretation whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth." --Friedrich Nietzsche

To me it is just another way of saying, Good - Without God. Human values are good values & besides, who stole who's morals?

Aaaanyway.. welcome to our cosy home. Where you been?

Only RDF General Off-Topic veterens or the very gullible will believe me when I say this, but I introduced the Mafia game to the Richard Dawkins Forum three or four years ago, and I'm elated that not only is it still being played, but it has a dedicated subforum. :D

I still see that the RDF community is comprised of a vocal portion who disrespect the rights to private property and free association. I almost missed a daily dose of far-left insanity, to tell the truth.
