Salutations

#1  Postby Wittgensteins-Poker » Oct 05, 2019 8:16 pm

I have only recently encountered biosemiotics in the process of my hermeneutical research. Right now, I am reading "Theses on Biosemiotics: Prolegomena to a Theoretical Biology" (Kull et al. 2009). Thesis 17 (e) (Biological Theory 4(2) 2009, p.117) is given as "Differentiation of a sign vehicle from the dynamics of the reciprocal form-generating process. A sign vehicle must be insulated from the dynamics that it constrains and that is responsible for generating a repetition of this process."
I am unclear as to why this would be so? Would a sign vehicle by its very nature have some degree of reciprocity with the dynamics it enables?

Thanks very much for any clarity on this point.

I wish I could say I've only just read deeply esoteric vocabulary being deployed in an apparent pathetic attempt to assert some form of authority.

This is an excellent question to direct at Slavoj Žižek, who feels qualified to say something about anything at all. Unfortunately for you he is not a member of this forum. Worse than that, neither is Alan Sokal, who has made useful contributions to topics similar to this one.

"Are you going to show me a good time tonight, or not?"
"Uh, yeah okay"

I've actually had this conversation in the flesh. Straight to the point and it saved all the meandering chat and nonsense.

Slavoj Žižek once said, "Words are never 'only words'; they matter because they define the contours of what we can do." However, that is not to say that some degree of non-contaminative means of distributing information at a biological level is unnecessary. In fact, to forgo such a notion is to deny the granular nature inherent at molecular levels pertaining to the transmissible, non-destructive components of proto-language. Development of endosemiotic interactions is a precursor to I don't know what we're talking about.

Slavoj Žižek also told Owen Jones that, "Clinton is the problem, not Trump." Without further context, I guess he could have been talking about cards. :dunno:

A sign vehicle? That's a vehicle for signs, right?

That's much nicer than "me love you long time joe".
