Hello Rational Skeptics
I got such a surprise. Re-registered with Richard Dawkins.net as Lurker4547, just to confirm that all my posts had been deleted when I was thrown off a while back. Only to find well gracious me, EVERYONE had got thrown off! Some of the moderators who had chucked me off got all THEIR posts deleted as well- like having their epaulettes torn from their shirts.

More than a year ago, so the hurt must have subsided by now.

I don't know what to say. Must try to act rational in here where the powers of rationality are exalted. OK let me just try this. Yes, I affirm, you were badly treated. You did not deserve how you were treated. May you prosper on this board and in life, following your stars.

Kind regards

Hi Jayjay4547
Welcome.
Hint - always keep a copy of your posts.

Incidentally, your title is wrong.

Take care

Which sites would those be? There are an awful lot of sites on the world wide web! Would be a shame to tar everyone with the same brush due to the rumours you've heard of the few, eh? :ask:

If there is a god, it would surely encourage vague, gossipy spite.

Hi Life
I got thrown off for lying 6 times- in the view of the moderators. My last lie I think, had to do with the bicorn fish. I used Microosoft Paint to draw this critter, whose main feature is two tusk-like teeth that it rams into its foes. I dishonestly claimed, this pic came from a still from a BBC film by David Attenburgh (lie #2). the aim of this deception was to make a point about chimp teeth, where the incisors slope outwards. The point I had wanted to make was that chimps bite and when they bite hard, against a predator, they must use their arms to grab andpull while biting into their antagonist- else they risked breaking their incisors through bending stress. And this was all about how different chimps are from humans, in their way of reacting to predatory attacks on them. I worked out the ratio of compressive force to pulling in force, from images of chimp skulls. the bicorn fish is the limiting case for this analysis- it simply bashes into its antagonist, no jaw-closing force at all. By this stage, relations were a bit unhappy between me and the site. Then I mentioned in passing that the bicorn fish was "gedenken". That was the last straw, revealing lie number 6. I must have mislaid a lie or three in the retelling. Anyway I felt aggrieved and my only consolation was that I might possibly have managed to irritate Richard Dawkins himself.

Getting back to the closing of that forum, on reflection, the treatment given to moderators suggests to me that Richard Dawkins might have some serious mental problem- its right outside human norms to treat loyal followers like that.

Richard Dawkins didn't handle the moderators directly, so you can't infer anything about his mental health from that.

And welcome.

You'd be surprised how many people think the tar is stuck to them. That's a pretty BIG conclusion to jump to if you know there's no EVIDENCE

Stand in front of a group of ppl and call out ..."hey faggot!"
Check how many people look up.
Just don't leap to one automatic conclusions about why.
That wouldn't be "rational'

Funny automatic conclusion that I haven't fairly looked at the evidence offered for the existence of divine beings, and rejected it on grounds of it being unacceptable and erroneous. You always assume that atheists were never believers, Lion - no matter how many times you're told otherwise.

Indeed it wouldn't. It would be fucking stupid. In the UK, a faggot is a type of meatball. If someone started shouting about meatballs in hte street, I'd look up to see what the daft bugger was shouting about. The same probably goes for most Brits. Then there might be one or two (or more) who are gay, look up because they think someone is shouting at them. Or at another gay man. Or they might be heterosexuals, looking up to see who else is looking up, expecting to be able to identify which ones are gay (ignoring the fact that their own looking-up offers evidence that not everyone they see looking up is in fact, a faggot - but some people are a bit stupid). Then there's those that look up because they heard someone shouting, but didn't quite catch what they said. There's the monk, who thought he heard someone shout 'Abbot!', and the sailor who thought he heard 'frigate!'. And the obese woman who thought she heard 'fat-gut!', and the dyslexic who was sure he heard 'fagget'.

So you are right - automatic conclusions wouldn't be rational, but would indicate that the assumption that everyone who looked up at the word was gay, was wrong, and the assumer was a fucking idiot.

Hi , thanks for some well welcoming messages there. i seem to remember Durro and Spearthrower from Richard Dawkins.
On Durro's query, which god-aren't there thousands- Im an Anglican, what is accessible to me is the Christian God- pretty much the same one as the Islamic and Jewish god. The Greek gods I never thought of seriously. Hindu gods? Ive spent some time around Hindu temples, like the statues. I once seemed to see Shiva move just for a second and the memory has embedded itself till I'm not sure its a residue or a husk.

Welcome to the forum!

And no, there is no god. The idea of a supernatural creator of existence is logically impossible. A creator being? That's another matter. But he/she/it wouldn't be a god.

Hi MacIver
You can have a "creator being" but you can't have a supernatural creator of existence? Logically impossible? Gracious how did you work out that? If this creator being created you and me and elephants, would it not be a God?

The best explanation of God I've come across was from the Scottish philosopher John Macmurray - that God is the generalisation of the Other. And by the Other he meant other beings we are in relationship with. Not sure that would be the Creator though, unless one extended Macmurray's notion of relations to include those with nature.

I'm not going to say welcome, I remember the vile excrement you posted on RDF. Particularly your vile defence of 8th century child rape.

The 847 posts of Jayjay47 on RDF have certainly not been deleted, although the search function dysfunction there makes anyone's posts practically inaccessible.
