Hi, I'm Katz. I left my forum home of 4 years today for reasons I may later explain. I have been a moderator there for 8 months. I really like the layout and topics here as they remind me of a better time at the place I've left. I am excited to spend some time here and I hope to get to know you folks!

I feel there is a negativity sweeping our planet at the moment. I had heard that the blood moon was the closing of a great window (with a span of 10 years or so). That negativity completely enveloped my forum.

It is a very close knit group with around 50 regular everyday posters and many guest posters that were previous members. At this point they are all turning on one another. It's been extremely heartbreaking, but I feel that by being around them, I am internalizing the negativity. The great discussion and fun have been replaced with trolling and backstabbing.

It was time for me to leave, for sure.

This forum doesn't move quite as quickly, but I feel that gives more time to process and consider the replies rather than throwing out the first thing that comes to mind.

What an odd idea. It seems some people on your late forum don't have a clue about astronomy - or perhaps they are more into astrology? (The next 'Blood Moon' and closest approach will occur in 2033.)

If that is the case, then I hope Katz can understand that alighting on a site called Rational Skepticism is not really going to offer the kind of venue where this idea naturally will gain wide acceptance.

That's one way of looking at it. Another is that people ask questions about a statement someone has made, which is basically what happens on an internet forum like this one.

Well, most of that is media generated. They thrive on 'bad news'. On this forum we do our best to 'look on the bright side' and expose the media for what it is, in many cases, (mostly in the popular press) - a money making scheme relying on the 'shock - horror' approach for information dissemination.

If you still feel negative, let us try to bring you out of it.
