Thinking on, I suppose there might also be the possibility that he's trying to ingratiate him self with the "not at all racist" rethuglicans for some long game reasons and/or (I hope I'm wrong) financial reasons.

Now I am an atheist who tries to empathize with those with religious convictions. At times I’ll go along and pray with someone. Other times I’ll go to church to spend time with a community I love and support. I don’t believe in the spiritual aspect, but the communal aspect is nice.

I find many religious people to be no different than me in terms of intelligence, compassion, and even logic. So why should I believe the anti-religious claptrap new atheists like Sam Harris peddle?

Fun fact I know many religious people who want a secular society. It’s possible.

Have you actually read Sam Harris?

Now that's trolling.

Sam Harris is just Jordan Peterson for atheists.

I haven't asked him that question. Maybe we should do a quick poll of who has read, instead of me asking you one-by-one. I need to know because there are people here who obviously haven't even read Sam Harris, and somehow think it fit to disparage him. Now this disturbing behaviour, as I've come to learn, is not a one-time occurrence, but a habit, as evident by people continually assuming and misrepresenting my posts.

You are making that judgement based on what? You most probably haven't read his book.

Militant anti-theists are anti-theists. Can't be anti-theist and not militant.

So by applying Harris' and your own logic, your own militant atheism leads inevitably to events such as the Christchurch massacre. Why aren't you ashamed?

How did you come to that conclusion?

I found it annoying too - I'll be darned if I'm going to humour foreign language posting of that type by using google translate so as to humour what appeared to be a "cleverness pissing contest" RE foreign language mastery.

Here's how it started. People were assuming somehow that I didn't understand Lilik's language. (They also assumed that I haven't accessed his Facebook page, before it was taken down.) And then afterwards, people were posting like they didn't understand English, so short of pointing a gun to their head and demanding, "English, motherfucker, do you speak it?", I thought maybe I should try conversing in the most spoken language in the world. Apparently, forum guidelines stipulate that I use the gun-to-the-head method instead.

Genuinely, I had thought until this point that this thread started because a maniac murdered 50 innocent civilians, and a lot of us were shocked.

I was really, really sad that those people were brutally murdered. I have no fucking clue how we got from there to petty complaints about the forum rules.

I remember the bit of TEOF where Harris points out that for some unknown reason religion and religious belief is "beyond criticism" whereas everything else is open for critical appraisal. I encounter this "special status" of religion all the time on the net, and of course poking criticism at someones religious conviction sin the flesh would be unthinkably rude. Or was it a bit in TGD thinking on...
