Any change to the US system is going to face stiff opposition. Either change will happen at a slow pace with piecemeal efforts or at some point the collective opinion will snap hard and it will change fast. Time will tell and during that time people will die.

This is probably true, and definitely frustrating. I wish they could have their guns, and eat them, too.
