What a load of fucking nonsense. The fact that dolphins take turns in communicating isn't conclusive evidence that we're dealing with anything on the order of complexity of sentences rather than just isolated signals.

We've known for ages that cetaceans can communicate, but there is no evidence that their code is complex enough to be governed by some sort of grammar or quasi-grammar (necessary to have a 'conversation just like two people') and isn't just a collection of isolated signals. As far as we've been able to tell so far, only humans have the former, whereas many other species have the latter.

Case in point: gorillas have been taught individual signs but have never successfully learned any sign language as a code (i.e. the grammatical structure of sign languages, being able to make sentences). Dogs can also learn to react to human words but they learn them as individual commands connected to concrete actions and objects rather than learning the entire code as a human child would.

I believe a parrot has used sentences that it made up itself.

I was going to mention freshwater but you'll just move the problem inland if everyone started eating them. Maybe farmed fish but they have massive issues so maybe just give up on them or massively lower your intake.

One really big reason you don't get to say that freshwater fish just moves the problem inland is that freshwater systems are a lot more geographically isolated than oceanic schools of fish or fisheries. Whereas quite a lot of ocean fishing takes place in International Waters- meaning nobody gets to claim or regulate that area- there aren't any International Rivers or International Lakes that I know of. They make handy borders, but usually even that means they're shared between a very limited number of nations relative to oceanic systems, and it's a lot easier to see when countries that shouldn't be fishing there are trying to sneak trawlers into your river.

Yes this is true however I think if all fishing moved inland only, we'd see a huge impact on the environment and I'm not sure the rivers would cope with the industry. We don't have to eat fish you klnow ;)

For a lot of people, that's what there is. Most humans don't live in wealthy countries like we do. And all of us need to eat. You eat what's available and sometimes that's fish.

At what point did this conversation turn to the obvious? You're seriously telling me that the world's fishing problems are caused by poor people??? Shame on you! :nono: :nono: :nono:

Well since you seem to be stroking your cock and following me around the forums, maybe I should start charging?

That being said, how the fuck is what you said got anything to do with what I said. It doesn't even make any sense!

Let me explain as you're having issues keeping up...

I'm not for one moment advocating that poor people should give up fish, I was making a joke at your expense but it went over your head. Not to mention your acidic posts which I'm really at the point of ignoring since you seem to be incapable of ratuionalising or making cognitive thought.

Your ignorant reply about poor people would indicate that they are the ones causing the issue with over fishing. Please please show us all the research behind this because all the news reports I've seen tend to go with large shipping fleets run by rich people?

I see though we can make a compromise. All the rich white people stop eating fish and let the poor people eat whatever they're catching right now and I wonder what affect that will have on the oceans. Couldn't possibly help though, could it! I'm sure you'll be coming back with another asinie retort worthy of your presence here at RV.

You kind of remind me of Salacious Crumb.

Got it. My pointing out your bullshit generalizations is a demonstration that I'm the one incapable of rational thought. That, and you're bitching about ad hominem attacks from me while describing my behavior as following you around the forum having a wank.

Hypocrisy much?

In what bullshit fantasy world could anything I've said be interpreted in this way?!

You're just full of hot hair - why don't you try responding with something with substance to it. My jokes aside, you're the one coming in with the attacks here. If you don't like it then shut the fuck up?

Yes. I think you've demonstrated to everyone's satisfaction which of us is being civil, and which of us is not.
