Hilarious. You have no problem posting off-topic when it suits you. You are not in charge here, first of all. I have explained clearly to you that I choose to post in an uncivil manner, since this is how you began interactions on day one with me, even though I was very civil, and my civility made no difference to your bellicose crap. If you keep repeating the lies that I cannot do better and that I post off-topic, that just adds to the evidence that it is you who are incapable of civil discourse. That’s your look-out. Point out my posts here in this thread today that don’t address a topic introduced first by you. Disagreement does not entail being wrong or off-topic. As I said previously, you are easily fooled by ostensible courtesy. You should hear what US says about you behind your back

ah, now, are you trying to get me into trouble just because i keep my own counsel? that's very insolent and off-topic of you, dear

Dogs, gardening, trips to Bunning, dump trips do you have any idea how fast tiger grass grows???, picking up and dropping off people to the airport and taking mum for lunch.... ....these are small SUVs...upright seating for easy entry and exit.
They aren't safer as they tend to roll over but they are much more convenient for road trips, scenery ....you do realize sedans are going out of favour real quick.

dogs? yup, including one mighty chunky greyhound...
gardening refuse? yup, when I can be arsed, as I hate gardening with a fucking passion
dump trips? yup - very, very regularly...is tiger grass what they use to make tiger bread?
picking people up and dropping them off? yup
taking mum for lunch? yup, along with 2 or 3 others sometimes...don't tend to do it regularly as I hate people
suv? nope - renault megane dynamique tomtom at the moment

having just had the description of an suv read to me by my belligerent (apparently) lesser (also apparently) half, i can't think of one thing i'd need it for...80km for a coffee, though? oh, bloody hell, yes, if there was no other coffee nearer to me - fuck, i love my coffee... :coffee:

Yes, and carbon offset funds are today's indulgence. If only I had your capacity for self-delusion I too could go for 300 km+ joyrides on a multitude of occasions, using a 650cc scooter, and tell myself there's nothing wrong with it because I pay $120 a year to offset the environmental damage my self-indulgence causes.

Has it ever occurred to you that your joyrides add to the CO2 content in the atmosphere, no matter whether you offset the addition elsewhere? Man, you're doing some mental acrobatics if you think the gratuitous release of CO2 for your pleasure is OK.

Using your "logic" anyone with sufficient money to buy a Spitfire with a 27 litre, 1800 horsepower Merlin engine to go on joyflights with would feel completely exonerated as long as they paid an appropriate contribution to a carbon offset fund. I'd have respect for you if you paid your $120 a year without blowing what you hope is no more than the equivalent cost to the environment into the atmosphere because that's just how you like to have fun.

That you’d travel 80km for it. You’d only travel that far if some hare-brained idiot went on holiday and left their life saving medication in the drawer at home... :teef:

80km? what's that in English?

i'd drive that if i needed a coffee and there was none nearer - what would be insane is driving that far if there was one closer or i had some at home :coffee:

Talk about hair shirts as much as you like, I certainly don’t fly or proudly state that I’d drive 80km for a fucking coffee, and the fact remains that I have all the requirements you voluntarily iterated following your voluntary statement that you own an SUV, and we don’t need one. I have a cold bedroom already, I can’t sleep with heating on. The aim of my first post was to show your excuses up for what they are. Every time you open your gob lately you put another foot in it. Most people only have 2, you ought to inform someone that you represent the discovery of a new species. You’ve been told enough times that you do not get to dictate around here. Yeah, you see, if you were renting that house your landlord would not be predat... no, wait. Let me think about that some more. If I'm not back in five minutes Macdoc will explain it to you. His logic is much better than mine anyway. Bulletproof.

well, I sure as heck ain't no predator, the people who operate the public transportation in my city have been on major strike for over a month, and I'm not the big walker I used to be, so I'm essentially homebound.

Still sore about reality? How are you conflating your good and admirable efforts at personal CO2 emission reduction, with exacerbating inequality by playing the housing casino game.?

Are you always confused about two different issues.

The linked article is a non-sequitur. Not sure what owning my house has to do with economic inequality. Make some sense and perhaps I will respond.

Please explain why you linked to that article. There is no mention at all of people who prefer to buy the home they want to live in rather rent it, let alone what difference it makes to what you call the housing casino game.
