Fox News is "fair and balanced" - Monckton

Apparently Australia and the UK need MORE FAUX NEWS!

Background story:

Activist group GetUp! released a video on Friday of Monckton addressing a group in Perth last July. He quite openly lays out a plan for the super-rich to buy up the key media companies and impose a Fox News-style libertarian perspective on Australia where voices like Bolt can be promoted to influence policy.

Sure enough, Rinehart has clearly answered Lord Monckton's call to buy into major media companies with moves on Network Ten and Fairfax Media, but so far it has been a complete disaster.

Yea, he is "skeptical" of climate science. But he doesn't see anything to be skeptical about on Fox News or Glenn Beck? Go figure...

And these people wonder why they get labelled "deniers"... The label: Snake oil selling climate "skeptic", just doesn't sound right.

He's a laughing stock.

Yep. In case anyone isn't aware of this channel. Great job on Monckton.

I seriously wonder whether Monkton is just being a professional fool here. He's renowned for talking utter crap roughly 100% of the time, and suggesting that Glenn Beck is good at explaining the US Constitution? Come on, even he doesn't believe that. He's so silly I can't get angry about him. :-)

Beck's a hero to many very stupid Americans and a hero to more intelligent ones as it allows them to manipulate the stupid ones.

Soemone like Beck probably minus the religion would do very well in the UK if something like Fox was allowed. The only defence against wackjobs like him is balanced news especially the BBC

You were doing so well untill you pulled out the Biased Bullshit Corporation as a good defence against biased news.

Anyone who thinks the BBC is 'biased' probably should be running Fox

Indeed. The BBC Trust, an independent organisation, has a mandate to keep the Beeb impartial.

I would say the BBC is the only thing in the UK that is even remotely unique to the UK and something to be proud of. There are other good points about the UK but none are specific to us. I don't think any other nation has public broadcasting that is respected interationally as the BBC.

Evidence? Proof? Sources?

Like mrjonno says, I'm hugely proud of the BBC. It's respected the world over. The BBC World Service is a bastion of light in some regions of the world where the only alternative news sources people have is government propaganda. And unlike most other less partial broadcasters it doesn't have to worry about pissing off advertisers.

It's how this American get's most of his news. I've given up on US news media; even CNN for the most part. Sometimes it's better to get outside sources and the BBC seems to inject the lest amount of opinion into the stories they cover and just cover the facts.

As far as I know there is nothing like the high brow intellectual stuff on BBC4 anywhere in the world , there isnt even a real equivalent to Question Time in the US. There have plenty of political programmes but its normally just filled with extremists from both sides and an audience out of Jerry Springer.

The Australians and Canadians have some decent public broadcasting but its not even remotely on the scale of the UK.
That isnt to say the US doesnt do extremely high quality commercial stuff (sometimes in conjunction with the BBC) but its generally subscription only and to a limited audience

I fail to see what my yet undecided voting choice concerning Scottish separatism has to do with the BBC's impartiality. :what:
