Gay people not entitled to domestic violence protections

#1  Postby DoctorE » Jun 05, 2019 9:30 am

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A newly discovered video shows a Middle Tennessee prosecutor boasting that, if gay people in his district end up being victims of domestic violence, they should not expect him to use the state's domestic violence laws to protect them.
That's the same DA who has suggested Muslims don't have any constitutional rights.
The prosecutor, Craig Northcott of Coffee County, has faced intense scrutiny from activists ever since he was named special prosecutor three weeks ago to review whether House Speaker Glenn Casada's office tried to set up an African-American protester.

This is not so bad when you consider the fact that these same idiots don't think gay people are entitled to anything except an early grave. But, there you go. Domestic violence is often a fast track to an early grave. Words of one syllable, eh?

I mean, it's not as if it's a big surprise, or anything, to any fucking regular member of this forum. Collecting reports of this shit is like collecting lint from your clothes drier.

What exactly is 'domestic violence protection'?, are there separate laws regarding it in the US.

I know in the UK we basically tended to ignore it (or even not have it as a crime rape in marriage) but I don't think even know it has a special status

From the article:

"The reason that there's enhanced punishment on domestic violence is to recognize and protect the sanctity of marriage. And I said there's no marriage to protect. So I don't prosecute them as domestics."

Is that so?

edit:

Not sure I am on the right track but this document would seem to disagree with him, which is kind of strange because it seems straightforward:

https://www.bwjp.org/assets/documents/p ... e_2005.pdf

and as a side note, a tiny side note, let's just abandon the institution of marriage.

Wait, that prosecutor is openly saying he 's not going to do his duty and he's still in office?

You seem really surprised by this. Most prosecutors have a lot more to deal with than promising everyone equal protection under the law. In case you're just getting back from a few years in a cave, rich people have the advantage in legal proceedings.

Surprised .. well, to me it's still hard to accept that the USA can have people like Mr Northcott or Mr Trump in the office and still be the USA it is.

"There are no Constitutional rights," the prosecutor continued. "There are only God given rights protected by the Constitution. If you don't believe in the one true God, there is nothing to protect."

If a prosecutor said this here I highly doubt s/he could keep her/his job. Nobody here would say it in the first place but ... its just mind blowing what kind of morons can do so well in this world.

They know they have to look after their own. Not necessarily in any substantive way, but they have to say the kind of things the other ones like to hear. This is only a deep mystery if you dream that everybody in the world is going to be nice to everyone else, including not saying mean stuff about other people.

Meanwhile you get mayors suggesting that the only way to deal with the LGBTQ problem is to kill them in a civil war. The South is disgusting. :nono:

I didn't want to have to point this out to you, but since you were asking what else was new, I thought I'd mention it. If you want something that's never been done, fucking invent it yourself.

I'll think it over, though I must admit that cream pieing the scum still is a classic and acceptable means of expressing your opinion when you can't manage to have them actually tarred and feathered.

Don't over-exert yourself. Spitballing the Republicans from the safety of an obscure internet forum is just pure fun. There's nothing wrong with doing that, but it's not a real challenge, is it?
