I suspect they would wear that label as a badge of honor.
Not to say the charge isn't appropriate but I don't think they would see any conflict with how they view their brand of "patriotism" and being labeled a traitor to the US by the government.

I suspect you're right. Maybe we need to force them to read dictionaries in addition to charging them with treason. Maybe an ESL tutor can help them understand English. I mean, fuck, if they're going to live here, the least they can do is learn the fucking language!

I remember during the first Bundy standoff old Cliven ranting about how he doesn't recognize the US but then he gets up on his horse and rides around waving an American flag.

However, it seems the convictions are a slam dunk now with all the broadcasting on social media, and having Cliven try to go to Oregon locked up his conviction, compared to just commenting from home. Public opinion was not in the militia's favour, and there was no shootout to create headlines. The one death didn't garner much sympathy, except for the most right wing fanatics. Well played all around. Even the sympathetic politicians/Leo's look very misguided.
I went to the Malheur looking for kindred spirits. I found the mad, the fervent, the passionately misguided.
